Anyone familiar with Mauser broomhandle style pistols? I guess they are also referred to as C96. I picked one up recently and don't know much about them. When I try to research them it gets confusing since it appears they made a wide variation of them.

Yes it came with the stock. Cool videos. Need to fire this thing and see what it's all about. It's definitely not the "Red 9" model since those have the red colored 9 on the grips.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Neat. Looked into this just now because Pistol+Stock=Short barreled rifle. Looks like the ATF has an exception for the C96 as long as the frame has a manufacture date of 1940 and older. Interesting! :D

I've always been fascinated with the Mauser Broomhandle. Has yours been rebarreled / rebuilt? Do you know when it was manufactured? They're sure unique looking.

I honestly don't know Bill. Over the weekend I will take a few photos of the markings and maybe that will help.

I picked up a new magazine for my Glock 23 the other day. I found it online for $20 at Galati International

For only $20 I figured, why not?

Hal, I saw a Kimber Tactical Ultra II at Gander Mountain a few days ago, $750 used.
I didn't mess with it much, but they didn't know what they had, and I'm pretty certain what it was. I'd have looked harder, but I don't want a .45.

It was like brand new, and about half price. I almost left with it just on price alone.
I might go back and look harder. Use it for the trade-in value.

There's a gazillion renditions of that Mauser of yours, brother. It's gonna be hard to pin it down. The serial number will be a big help to narrow it down cause they sold them to lots of countries and each model they did x number of guns and started with new serials, small runs.
If your serial is high enough, you can eliminate a lot of model runs.
I think it's an early one. WWI. It'd make sense it came back here.
Not all 9's have the 9 on them, either. And your's has the same grip as the 9, less the 9.

I was looking for an LC9 with a Crimson Trace and I fell into this Beretta Nano 9mm with a Crimson Trace, extra mag, and the standard other junk for $369.
Our gun store is blowing out all the used stuff to make room.
If this gun has ever seen a shot through it, it wasn't via the mags that came with it. There weren't even any marks on the mag plates, they've never seen a bullet.

Hal, that 1911 was gone. I went back and checked.
I should have looked harder when I was there, but I really didn't like the gun at all.
Still, I should have picked it up just for the trade value. I wasn't thinking.

Got my 2 PSA Stripper AR lowers in today. Christmas present from my wife.

Gotta run to the bank with the wife to get the trust notarized.

Christmas present from my parents is going to be them paying for the $200 tax stamp to the ATF to submit my E-Form1 to build my SBR.

Can't wait.

This one would be worthless without the extended mag plate, just like my LCP.
I might end up hating it. I already hate that English action where you have to drop the clip to rack a round.
I don't care for a trigger safety, either. But the pull on this gun is so long and strong that I'll probably not carve cement when I pull it.

Looks like my Umbrella build is back on.
Just ordered their AXTS charging handle with umbrella symbol.
Now have:
Lower
Upper
Grip
Bolt carrier group
Giselle trigger
Lower parts kit

Charging handle on the way and still a bunch to go but little by little.

So I'm going to sell my XDS 9mm because I hate the way it shoots. The trigger pull is super heavy and stiff. I love carrying my Glock 23 but sometimes it's a bit too big. Any advice on a good CCW pistol bigger than 9mm that conceals well?

Full up with most other calibers, now time to shop for a 1911. What is a good, reputable make that is REASONABLE? So far, preference is Ruger in standard barrel length. Found for around $600 :D

Unless you are insisting on new you should be able to find a sig 1911 used for only slightly more than that. I have had a couple Rock Island Arms one standard and one tactical for the price bothe were exceptional weapons. The tactical should run about $495 to $525 for new.
