You can choose your team from the left hand column and it will give you more information about other games and their importance to your teams playoff chances. Like I mentioned before though, doesn't mean much until later in the season when it has more data to go by.

seen this before too, very interesting read!

Having Savard back in the lineup may have boosted the team's moral a bit too :noon

I think a Healthy Krejci, Savard back and some dead weight moved out really helped out last night.

I just Hope they can keep it up for a few games and this wasn't a one hit wonder for the rest of the month.
It was nice to see them beat the bag out of a team that is playing well.

Growning up in Michigan, I hated the Blackhawks. Now that I've been in Chicago for a while I've grown to like them. Heck, I hope they win every game...except for the ones where they play the Wings.

I rooted for the Wings every year in the playoffs when the Hawks missed them...growing up in Detroit left me with some love for the Wings, Pistons and Tigers.

Hawks have a similar following around opposing rinks the last couple years.

I don't blame you. It's hard to be a Lions fan. You have to have paper bags to wear for all the home games, fire Millen T-shirts, Fire Millen parades, etc... The "Lion's SuperBowl" questions start on Detroit Sports Talk radio usually by week 4 or 5.

The "Lion's SuperBowl" in other cities is also known as the NFL Draft.

I caught the second and third period of the Blackhawks game last night. I am pretty sure they lost because Turco was wearing those stupid red goalie pads. They just don't look right IMO.

Captain Morgan is gone Tom. Still think the Hawks should have kept him and let us get your Dman.
If you face the Canucks this year it will be tougher without him, and I hate to say I don't think it will happen.

I am far from convinced the Hawks will even make the playoffs at this point, Mike. :hn

I would much rather have Hjalmarsson than Niemi though.... I think both Crawford and Turco are better goalies. I am more concerned about facing the Canucks without Byfuglien. :2

Hey I am with you brother. I don't know I will need playoff sests this year. 1/4 the way in its ugly. As for the goalies I am not a turco fan. I was refering to Buff though and without him I think the Hawks will have issues. I was saying keep Buf and let Hjalmarson go

Stupid Turco pads, they need to be white, red is just stupid. Crawford will be the distinct number 1 by trade deadline for chicago, and I think thats fine. He should have been at least battling last year with Niemi, and could have beat him out IMO as well.
Jackets are one of the most confusing teams on the earth.
Pens suck
It is easy to say now that Buff was the right guy to keep, but they were looking to shed salary. However, he can play both forward and defense so thats money worth right there.
How bout that timmy thomas save on the laughs? wowzers

Maybe so, Mike....but Niemi got us the Stanley Cup, so us Hawks fans are just fine with how it worked out. ;) :r

I know the feeling, I would much rather watch the Wings or the Sharks crew call the game. I hate it when the Hawks have a game exclusively on Versus...although less though than last year when DirectV didn't carry Versus. :r

It is amazing how some announcers on their own can simply ruin a solid game.

I really like both the Wings' and the Sharks' TV broadcast teams.

That Wings radio play by play guy is another story though....Sounds like the Snuggle fabric softener bear when the Wings score. :r

hahahaha,
My dad is a grumpy guy when it comes to announcers. Many a times he will be heard yelling at them when they get names or calls wrong. It makes the game that much more interesting at my house.

LOL, Paul Woods & Ken Kal.

Funny thing is on local radio, Mickey Redmond (TV color man for most Wing's games) gets more flak for being a homer.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread

I ain't saying the wings guys are epic homers, but uh I don't know to many announcers that can compare. I guess when your used to hoisting the cup the people expect a rosey picture.

I think Wings fans will be happy again tonight though regardless of the announcers.

There is no doubt Ken Holland is pure genius, his wings since who knows when will be the closest thing we will ever get to a dynasty team again.

I watched the game on TiVo after my game....Niemi kept them in it in the 1st, and SJ dominated the rest of the way.

By the by, my team is hotter than any NHL team, 10-1-1 in our last 12. :)

Niemi played a great game. Wings couldn't keep up the pace. I thought the Wings dominated the 1st period and after that it looked like they put cement in their skates. All while the Sharks kept playing at a high pace. The Heatly to Thorton goal was very nice.

Price just needs no competition, if he has a solid backup it will get to his head that he will lose the job, its been like that his whole career even non-nhl.

I only caught the third period and it wasn't pretty. SJ was getting 2/3 of the loose pucks. Not what I'm used to seeing out of the Wings this season. Babcock said it best (paraphrased), "We got out worked in the 2nd and 3rd.".

Hawks face one of the hottest teams in the West tonight without Kane and Hossa. Coach Q changed his mind and will start Crawford instead of starting Turco against his old mates. I hope Corey is ready tonight.

BTW, I love the Wings announcers. All local announcers are homers to an extent, but Mickey really knows his stuff. Very down to earth and full of unique Canadian/Michigan vernacular. Ken Daniels & Mickey Redmond are my favorite. I wish they could do all the Wings games, especially when we have to suffer through some of the national guys when it comes playoff time.

Its funny our local guys are not that bad on the radio. They often call players out. Point out errors and will often comment if a player got away with something. I prefer that. I am just not a fan of the rah rah guys.
