Hope you got a good deal. National retailers can be much more expensive than on-line stores. I'm not talking about grey/black market shops, but authorized dealers sell a lot on-line now also.

Well I am sure I overpaid a little bit but I wanted to be able to try watches on and see which one really caught my eye. Plus, spending all that money I wanted to talk to an actual person as well as getting a warranty plan.

No display back, but RGM being who they are, it was an option. Also, it could have been purchased with a standard bezel.

I suppose you should be able to put a DB on any time you want. Have you seen the movement in person? Most never get to see their movement at all.

I don't know what I was thinking. The watch is 21j not 17j. It's an SO 7001RM Swiss movement, finished with Geneva stripes and blued screws. The movement is based on a Peseux 7001. I have not seen it in person but I have seen a photo of it. Very nice.

Much too expensive for me to collect.... I have a Citizen Calibre 8700, and I'm looking to get a lefty for daily use. I'm thinking of getting an Invicta F0053, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

That must be the newest model of Carrera. I have never seen one look like that. Very nice.

Quick update. As I let my Chrono run then stop and reset it the 1/20th and second hands start to inch their way backwards. I dont know if this is normal or not.

Shall I return it or live with it?

Does it line up perfect once it is done moving?

Wolfgang 08-18-2010 05:09 PM

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?

Nope when I reset it the two hands progressivly go to the negative of zero. I can adjut it back to zero and it'll stay there for a while.

That is an issue and will have to be worked on by an horologist. Shouldn't be expensive unless the watch is used and needs a service.

It's a Raymond Weil Don Giovanni Limited Edition (greater China 105/199) from 2005. I bought it from Tourneau at the beginning of this year

I need another collection like a hole in the head right now, so I've mostly managed to keep this hobby under control... I'm drawn to dive watches at the moment because they meet my needs working outside & also dress up well when I'm back in the office.

'06 contract Marathon SAR (no cyclops)...

Thanks guys... I've been looking at these for a while & found a good deal. Definitely a lot of watch for the money. Looks pretty good on a zulu strap as well...

The case is approx. 46mm & the bezel is just over 41mm. Marathon also makes a larger JSAR, but it has a quartz movement.

I bought this Seiko Superior a couple months back for 150.00. Since the snowstorm won't allow me to do much else, I photographed it. A real nice watch as are all Seikos.

I went to an Omega boutique the other day in AZ. The salesperson is telling me they are made in Geneva after I mentioned our company is down the street from Omega in Biel. "If they are made in Geneva, then what is that huge grey with red trim manufactory with the bus stop named Omega?” I said. He just looked at me with blank stare like I was nuts.
