My Great Aunt was in town a couple of days and she said she had something to give me. It was a WWI Colt .45 1911. I did a little research and it looks like it was made in 1916 by the s/n. My Great Uncle passed away several years ago and she said that she thought that he would want it to stay in the family. Everything seems to be original on it except the grip on one side has been replaced. I was very suprised and very excited to give this gun a new home.

Very cool!
Maybe you can get an original grip for it if you want.
I was thinking about putting up some pictures of my late grandpa's '03 Springfield 30-06. Similar story.

I have to have time to take and compose the pics. That won't be for at least a month.

What made you choose that over another gun? Like say the Kahr PM9? I am looking into getting my CC and kind of want to get the gun first and throw some rounds through it first, but am being real slow about it as it is pretty back burner right now...

That is a neat piece. I might have extra colt grips of that vintage, I will look.

Picked up a Springfield XD9 subcompact last week. I've put a couple hundred rounds through it and love it so far.
