Don't think it's too likely though. :hn

Not likely, but I think it would work well. Rivalries are there, travel would be reduced...a man can dream :r

I think a lot of the problem with aligning the NHL is that almost 3/4 of the teams are in the Eastern & Central timezones, and the West is geographically dispersed. Not to mention rivalries, original 6 considerations, and the fact Bettman is an idiot.

I hate the travel argument as I want to see more travel not less.
Part of my reason for not getting season tickets this year is I am done watching pacific teams 6 damn times each in one season. I get to see Eastern teams often once every 2 years and the Ducks too many damn times.

A balanced schedule would be nice.

Nice pick by the Bruins in the draft. I was surprised to see Hamilton fall to #9.

Huh. I think San Jose just over paid with that trade for a defenseman.

I know you like Devin, I do too....but Burns is solid. :2

Hawks trade Brower for a pick (I was sure he wasn;t going to be back), then shed 4.1 MIL is salary by trading Campbell to Tallon's Panthers for Olesz. A downgrade for sure, but between Troy, Brian and the salary cap bump, they have $12 MIL per year to lock up Patrick Sharp and sign some FAs.

If it was straight up or Seto and this years pick okay, but Coyle was a stud this year and some of us fans thought he had a bright future. Played on US Jr team last year as well.

Seto signed for 3 years Burns is a UFA after this season. Seto is only 24 also.

Nice ditching soupys K. Wish Sharks could move Heatley. Seto package was only way I saw that happening so now Sharks are stuck with that also.

Ohh I agree Burns is solid big puck moving Dman whos a righthand shot. I think hes a good Dman, but also has a concussion history.

Just hope this works out and hes with yhe club more then 1 year. Going to really sting if that happens.

Not familiar with Coyle, thanks for the heads up.

Trade Burns straight up for Rostislav Olesz? :D

So many trades! Hawks dumped a bunch of salary. Campbell was getting overpaid so I thought that was a good move.

Sharks getting a big upgrade on D. It is kinda tough giving up Setogutchi though in what could just be a year rental.

Wings again trade their first round pick, for additional second rounders. Gotta checkout who these new guys are.

Hawks got Saad mid 2nd round, he was rated as high as #6 before his groin injury. Could be a sleeper! :tu

Reports: NHL to realign for 2012-13

ESPN.com news services

The return of the Winnipeg Jets to the NHL will create a ripple effect throughout the league with a dramatic realignment for the 2012-13 season as a result, multiple media outlets have reported.

Winnipeg, which is the new home of the relocated Atlanta Thrashers, will play the upcoming 2011-12 season in the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division despite being 70 miles north of Minnesota.

The Jets' division features the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.

With Western Conference teams Detroit, Nashville and Columbus hoping to be relocated to the East, the NHL has opted to realign the entire league rather than shifting Winnipeg, according to the Sporting News.

The purveying plan seeks to divide the league into four divisions -- two with eight teams and two with seven teams. The plan will likely be finalized at December's Board of Governors meeting.

Commissioner Gary Bettman hinted at changes to come in his annual state-of-the-NHL address before the Stanley Cup finals opener earlier this month.

"All those clubs need an opportunity to be heard," Bettman said. "That's a process we'll go through the first half of next season, looking at the issues that clubs want to raise, looking at various possibilities, and trying to figure out what will make the most sense moving forward."

Follow the money. If travel costs is really the deal breaker, it'll be reflected in the final outcome.

Its been quite and exciting off season so far, especially with the Jets returning to the NHL.

As a Winnipeger it has been pretty surreal experience.

To add to everything I have had a surreal experience of my own in the last month. On May 27th I signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks to be the Video Coach for their American Hockey League affiliate in Rockford!

I realized at quite an early age that I wasn't going to play hockey as a profession but it took me two years of pursuing a degree in Microbiology to realize that I could still work in the sport. With an abrupt change in career paths three years of schooling pursuing a degree in Sport Management, countless hours of volunteering and a year long internship I can now say that I have realized part of my dream!

I have to report to Chicago August 29th, to get things rolling for the Blackhawks rookie tournament and training camp and I really don't things will sink in until then. I do know one things for sure, I have never wanted a summer to go by faster then this one! :D

I thought I would share with you guys because you are all passionate about hockey and I figured you would appreciate it!:ih
