Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Hello. In Massachusetts you are somewhat limited as to what handguns you're allowed to own/possess/carry, correct? It may be helpful if you would outline those restrictions for us.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Ill be attending the Sig academy next month. Taking handgun 101 and 102. Sig trains on the 320. I guess that's a good place to start.

8lug, that sounds like a good plan, seriously. For that $25, yeah, try out the brands and models that feel best in your hands. Also, 9mm is the right caliber to try first, easier to shoot and less expensive to "feed". Plus, with the hotter self defense ammo, it's very capable of doing its job.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Went to the range yesterday with a buddy and got to fire his Canik TP9SA. I found out that I'm cross dominate. left hand, right eye.

A couple new additions to the family...
Not necessarily a fan of Taurus, but I picked this up for a really good price and figured what the heck. Shoots really nice actually. http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...9;t%20Mule.jpg Put this together for the annual .22 match at the hunt club this year. Last year Boo was out gunned shooting my old Henry Golden Boy against all the 10/22s. NOT this year! http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...acDriver01.jpg http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...acDriver02.jpg One of the guys at the club brought some suppressors, that little rifle LIKED the suppressor! Boo having some fun with one of the "toys" the suppressor guy brought. http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...sta%20Gurl.jpg |

Got a 9mm Sig P226 legion. 200 rounds later and I'm hooked. Another slippery slope. :)

Just bought a Canik TP9sfx, love it!

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Bought a new and tough to find Ruger Wrangler .22 LR single action revolver today. Range trip tomorrow.
|
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
The Wrangler works fine and I can shoot it pretty well outdoors in the sunlight. Those small sights inside, not so much.

Picked up a new FN recently. Ran a couple hundred rounds through it and she seems to be great. Only thing I don't like it the muzzle brake. It has three prongs and it sounds like a tuning fork when you fire it. |

Amazing how inexpensive .40 caliber trade in handguns have gotten. Yesterday I picked up a full size, like new M&P for $220 + tax. Crazy.

I remember when the .40 came out and wondering why? |

End result, they decided that the 10mm was the new go to. Then re-decided that the round was too long, and full powered loads, too powerful. Hence, the .40 S&W became the new king. The rest of the story has been laid out already, I'm feeling like a windbag at this point, sorry. |

Funny, my department (which I retired from in 2017) went from Glock 9mm to Glock 40s right after I left. |

Little follow up: Wanted to get a few more magazines for the M&P. Didn't need brand new ones, they'll be for the range only.
Sometimes I forget that AIM Surplus is about 25 miles away. Sure enough they listed trade in 15 rounders for $14. Drove up and got a few. Used, but plenty of life left in 'em. |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
A little Aroma Therapy this weekend with Boo. We've both been pretty busy with life lately and haven't see much of each other, so we decided on a little range time together!
Rock'n the .45 http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...20the%2045.jpg Bustin' some clays http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...%20Shotgun.jpg Elmer Fudd??? http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...mer%20Fudd.jpg Funny part is, I'm shooting the ported 20 ga. that I got for her a couple years ago, because she wanted the 12 ga. pump, and she's rockin' that .45 like there's no tomorrow while I'm happy with my 9mm. Good thing I'm secure in my masculinity! :D |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I recently added a red dot to a 686+ and took it out last week to sight it in. First time I've fired off a rest in many years. Beautiful day out in the desert and once I dialed the sight in it shot a ragged hole. I've used optical scopes on handguns in the past but this was my first experience with a red dot. I think it'll help my aging eyes.
This shooting spot is a half hour from my driveway. It's actually up on a hill overlooking a valley and you need a Jeep or other high clearance vehicle to get to it. There are a number of easily accessible shooting spots down below on the valley floor as well (all of which were occupied the day we were there) but I prefer the safety/privacy this spot affords. https://i.imgur.com/DUxdXPm.jpg |

Boo and I made some time to hang out at the range yesterday

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Cooler weather is on the way which means more outdoor range time. Anyone got anything new or anything new in the hopper?
I picked up my first six-five creed moor and have my first three hundred BO on the way. Looking forward to ringing some steel. |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Going to wring out a new-to-me Walther PPQ 9mm pistol this afternoon. It's my second, it's got the same Trijicon HD sights the first one came with. Looks to be virtually unfired.

This PPQ worked flawlessly today. Whoever installed the sights got them spot on for windage. They hit a trifle high, fine by me.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Anybody see the announcement from Glock? They're bringing out a new model, the G44, in .22 long rifle. Same size as the model 19. Debut is 1/20/20.
A .22 from them is long overdue, I think. |

People have been wanting a Glock in .22 for a long time, but they've consistently sold heck out of their centerfire offerings since day one.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I think whe people think of a handgun, they think of the glock.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Got in a day at the range with my dad and friends. We shot mostly rifles but had time at the end for a little steel at the pistol range.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Hello. I was scouring the used gun shelves at a couple stores on the west side this morning. Got myself a low miles Sig Sauer P365. Probably have to wait until Sunday to see how it works. Supposed to be 54 degrees and sunny, so worth a couple days delay.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I tried the P 365 out yesterday. Reliable and seems to be accurate. (I was shooting at steel targets, need some rounds on paper to see about accuracy.)

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Over the last few years I've gotten rid of everything I don't shoot or had an emotional attachment to. Stuff I'd accumulated over the last forty years but had lost interest in. Or things I'd acquired because they were a deal. Or guns I wasn't sure why I'd picked up in the first place.
And since it freed up some cash, I also picked up a couple I'd had my eye on. So when all was said and done the downsized collection was where I wanted it, with one exception. I scratched that last itch last week and picked up a S&W 627 V-Comp. Pretty sure I'm done now. Probably. :D https://i.imgur.com/nBG9ErP.jpg?1 |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Sweet S&W, Bill. :tu
|
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
By the way, my Sig P365 is about as accurate as a full sized 9mm handgun.
