Rumor has it Seto is on the block as they continue to try to find a dman. Watching Huskins and Wallin is painful.

Both Wallin and Huskins were injured in the 1st period and did not return. The Sharks had 4 dman for the 2nd and 3rd period. They eeked out a 4-3 win with the Oilers making a third period push.

Thank goodness it was the Oilers, Mike, a better team might have taken better advantage. I saw the third period, Edmonton made it a game.

Agreed I was listening on the radio and you could here the utoh factor in the announcers.

This does not look good for the upcoming Wings and Hawks game.

They had Scotty in the both between second and third period. Dude is such a stud. Talked about how he was never the best player growing up, got cut from travel teams just kept plugging away. Then in crapchester He had a blown out shoulder one year then blew out his right acl the following year, then his left acl the year after that. 7 years in Rochester. He said the injuries made him work harder and harder in the off season. His work ethic off the ice and selling out on the ice is why he made it. Going to email his wife and tell her awesome interview and send him some love. Dude is a beast all heart. Why can't some others take his approach.

B's down 3-0 after the first.

Saw Scotty at the rink tonight. His youngest boy Foster is now playing in mini mites with Micah. He has a nice shinner where the puck caught him, but no long term issues. talked to his wife after practice and told her to send some love from the fans for the radio interview he gave the other night.

How about them Thrashers?! Five game win streak with quality wins including a 5-0 win over the Caps, 5-1 win over the Wings, 3-0 win over the Habs and 4-1 win over the Bs. Four of the top teams just getting handled by this young Thrasher squad.

Wowzers, snoozer last night, attended sens/oil, and again scotiabank was a library and 40% of people attending were oil fans. I am sure the sens would be a much better team without moving a single player if they played in a town with fans who cheer them on rather than sit there and scratch their nuts...

And the B's are going in the opposite Direction. Lost 4 of the last five games.

I gotta say that kid Kane is one tough SOB. He punches like Lightning and he hits hard. I loved when he knocked out Matt Cooke.

It is embarrassing the teams the east put together. Sure the east has some of the best individual talent, but they dont have any teams per say... The west is loaded with teams that can get ya at many different levels.

You planning on fighting with yourself?
I am expecting a loss. They are missing a lot of guys with injuries and have a lot of minor leaguers in the lineup right now and some walking wounded. Dont forget last game they skated 2 periods with only 4 dman. Given the Wings passing I expect a lot of rookies to get lost out there and eaten up.

"The Sharks will start Antero Niitymaki in goal tonight but are missing three injured defresemen-- Niclas Wallin, Kent Huskins and Jason Demers. They will be replaced by Derek Joslin, Justin Braun and Mike Moore, recalled from Worcester (AHL)."

Not sure if Seto or Nichol will play either. As they say good teams find a way to win. I dont think their will be a lot of happy Sharks fans tonight, but guess we shall wait and see.

They mentioned it at the game that this has happened at the HP Pavilion before. I believe they said in '95 a Wings/Sharks game was postponed or delayed due to a power issue. Not sure of any others.

I watched the first two periods. Went to be around midnight. Wings stretched it to a 2 goal lead just before the second intermission. Fun to watch if you're a Wing's fan, the passing was fantastic. That said I think Mike was right, the young D-men of the Sharks made some of those pretty passes possible.

Stars give up just one goal and beat the Caps? (Yeah, we may have been gifted a call with 10 seconds left in the game... but don't worry about that.) Backup goalie and all? 5 game winning streak? I thought this team wouldn't even sniff 80 points this year.

I'll take it...

It's amazing what your team can do when they set up in the neutral zone and stop the "dump and chase" crap.

Having Savard back in the lineup may have boosted the team's moral a bit too :noon

I agree. They really turned it on in that one. I believe it was tied at 3-3 before the Wings poured in 3 more for a 6-3 final.

This Mike is thrilled. A shutout for the old fantasy pool is always welcome! Hopefully he can keep this up and win over the number 1 spot. It took him a while to get going last year then he won the cup!

C'mon now, I know the Wings are #2 in your heart, icehog!

Growning up in Michigan, I hated the Blackhawks. Now that I've been in Chicago for a while I've grown to like them. Heck, I hope they win every game...except for the ones where they play the Wings.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread

This is a neat little site that I found a couple years ago that gives percent chance of teams that will make the playoffs. I meant to post it last year leading up to the playoffs because that is the only time it really means anything. You can choose your team from the left hand column and it will give you more information about other games and their importance to your teams playoff chances. Like I mentioned before though, doesn't mean much until later in the season when it has more data to go by.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/hockey/Canada/NHL.html

And this is how it works:

Quote:

Sports Club Stats calculates each team’s odds of making the playoffs, how each upcoming game will impact those odds, and how well they have to finish out to have a shot. It knows the season schedule and scores for past games. Each night it grabs any new scores from the internet and simulates the rest of the season by randomly picking scores for each remaining game. The weighted method takes the opponents record and home field advantage into account when randomly picking scores, so the better team is more likely to win. The 50/50 method gives each opponent an equal chance of winning each game. Both methods let an appropriate percent of games end in a tie or go into overtime in leagues where that matters. When it’s finished "playing" all the remaining games it applies the league’s tie breaking rules to see where everyone finished. It repeats this random playing out of the season million of times (try it yourself), keeping track of how many "seasons" each team finishes where. Finally it updates this page with the new results for you to read with your morning coffee.
To help flush out each team’s highest and lowest possible seeds, I force them to win or lose all their remaining games for a small percentage of the simulation runs. All the change columns are since the end of the last day that had games. Click the league (on the left) to compare all teams.
