Re: beer hauls
sooo...boss gave me the company card to buy beer tonight for the five of us that need to stick around until all the polls close, so I had a good trip to the liquor store:
Pliny the Elder x 4 Avery Reverend x 2 DFH Pangea DFH Palo Santo 4 pack Lost Abbey Lost and Found Samuel Smith Christmas 4 pack Rochefort 10 x 2 Le Fin du Monde and I think a couple of other bottles long day, but lots of beer! |
Re: beer hauls
Nice score, and on the bosses dime. EPIC
|
Re: beer hauls
Let me know how the Palo Santo is... I can get hold of that :r
|
Re: beer hauls
I can tell you right now, FANTASTIC! Get a 4 pack, it's one of my go to beers. My second favorite DFH beer besides the World Wide Stout. For some reason I'm REALLY attached to the Sautea as well and the black & blue...and...okay DFH just have really awesome brews.
|
Re: beer hauls
Will do no doubt, I've had it before but it has been a while...haven't had the Pangea yet though...looking forward to diving in.
Into the Avery Reverend...boss's request. Pretty damn good! Also got a Bruery Rugbrod, forgot to add that. |
Re: beer hauls
OK, I lied, I just checked and it's Palo Santo Marron? Is that the same beer? If it is, it better be friggin awesome, it's £5/bottle.
|
Re: beer hauls
Yeah Palo Santo Marron, everyone just calls it the palo santo. O_o they are $4 USD here.
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/dogfish...-marron/66797/ Ratebeer says it's Phucking awesome! I definitely concur. |
Re: beer hauls
How much is Raison D'Etre? Rd'E costs me.... about $4... and that's expensive given local ales are maybe $3/500ml as opposed to $4/355ml.
|
Re: beer hauls
Same $3.50-$4.00 for the D'Etre
The higher ABV (18.5%) one is $10 per 12 oz "Raison D Extra" |
Re: beer hauls
Don't have access to that one... the ones I can easily get hold of are: IPA60, IPA90, Festina Peche, Raison D'Etre, Midas Touch and Palo Santo... I presume they're are all pretty good?
|
Re: beer hauls
I would rank them from best to worst
Palo Santo($4.50) 90 minute (if you LOVE hops, if not switch this and the midas touch)($3.00) Midas touch ($3.00) festina peche 60 minute Haven't had any of their raison beers ...I don't like raisins. I would buy the Palo Santo/Midas touch/90 minute all day. The rest meh..They are OKAY, but again I dig the high gravity (6.2%+ABV) beers. The festina peche is a lowly 4.5% abv. Also the 90 minute is the best rated IPA easily out of all of DFH IPAs. |
Re: beer hauls
OK, looks like the next order will include one of each of the top three :D
Just need to get enough of an order (delivery is £7.50) otherwise it's not financially sensible. |
Re: beer hauls
You'll definitely enjoy them. I haven't had but maybe one DFH brew I didn't like. I remember the one night I pounded 3 120 minute IPA's.... oh that was fun.

So I went in to the off license, to see what, if any, ales they had. Came out with these. |
Re: beer hauls
If you like the sierra nevada I suggest getting the 30th anniversary ale the fritz and kens is :dr.
|
Re: beer hauls
Well this is the first time I've had the porter... it's not bad, just not as full as I'm used too. I don't hate SN ales, they're not offensive... just have other beers I like more... of which, you will hopefully see photos tomorrow! :tu
|
Re: beer hauls
Oh, and your beer bottles are too small. What's all this 355ml rubbish about?
|
Re: beer hauls
Yeah 12 oz's, unfortunately that is the only size they come in. I look at it this way, I drink more of different kinds of beers instead of one or two of the same beer.
If I was buying bombers I'd go stones. Dogfish head doesn't do bombers only wine size bottles and 12oz's. The Black & blue, Red & white, Sautea, Theobroma, Chateau Jiahu and Miles Davis *****es Brew are all wine size 25.9 Oz. Also Stones makes good FULL beers, Try the double bastard ale, arrogant bastard ale, Vertical epic, Russian imperial stout and the oaked arrogant bastard ale. |
Re: beer hauls
I can get the Sublimely Self Righteous Ale, Smoked Porter and the Old Guardian easily, might need to search for those you mention.
|
Re: beer hauls
The Sublimely Self Righteous is awesome. That the Russian imperial and Double Bastard are my favorites. LOVE the Ruination as well. Double Bastard will always be my favorite though.

Re: beer hauls
Some tasty hauls on this page for sure....Palo Santo is a beast!!! So good, dark, sweet and silky...among many other things. I will be going back for more.
|
Re: beer hauls
I was wondering if any of you can get your hands on Bell's Winter White Ale, or Oberon. I cant get them down south at all. If you can I WTB some thanks guys
|
Re: beer hauls
Bell doesn't distribute much down south I really wanted to try their expedition stout. Same with Alesmiths speedway stout and founders......We don't get too good of Imperial Stouts around here. I'd love to find someone to hook me up with some of these. Especially the speedway stout.
