North Coast brewing co. Old Stock Ale

Re: What beers are you enjoying?

I would have to say Chrismas Ale from Great Lakes Brewery, released only in November and December. It is a stronger beer that your normal, around 7% range. Mixed with honey and nutmeg I think, (drink it to fast to read the label).

Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron
12% alcohol

Brown Ale aged in 10,000 gallon handmade wooden brewing vessels, made from Paraguayan Palo Santo wood.

Very malty, smooth and a nice finish.

Re: What beers are you enjoying?

I don't know why I bought this six pack, because I'm not a big Sam Adams fan nor do I like my beer to be fruity.... but this really isn't too bad. Quite refreshing, would be great on a hot summer day in the yard.

A SeanGAR special!

Sean sent me a couple bottles of his own cloned version of Bell's Two-Hearted Ale. Great stuff, Sean! I think you really captured the Bell's flavor profile in a pilsner-like style. Very clean and drinkable, thank you! :dr

Drinking Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale. It's a very nice Belgian golden triple ale. Very nice. Has some fruity tasting notes and a nice dry hopped finish.

Nothing wrong with that! Pair it up with a maduro and you got a great combination.

(Besides, who can argue with that label? :))

Re: What beers are you enjoying?

I was planning on having my Erdinger's Dunkel last night but then my distributor called and told me that my Guiness 250th Anniversary had arrived. I picked up a 2 six packs and sampled a few last night. It was good, Guiness-esque, just seemed a little watered-down with more fizz. I probably will not be buying these again as I like the regular Guiness draught better and these are $2+ per bottle. Not worth it in my opinion.

I'm glad you liked it. I was looking for a crisper but still hoppy beer than many of the APA/IPAs that I can buy. Used soft water, mashed low and used chico yeast. I have a couple of more beers in the works that I'll share when they're ready. Been getting more into brewing these past few weeks for some reason. I think its time to make another imperial russian and try my hand at a quad, never made a quad before.

Today at work I tried Hoegaarden for the first time and liked it very much. Kinda like Blue Moon but not a strong citrus flavor, It was excellent. I also had Sam Adams Black Lager. I gotta say this is one of my favorite beers, soo damn tasty :dr

A quote from Sam Adams...

"When one sees a beer with a darker complexion these days, more often than not it’s a Porter or Stout. However looks can be deceiving. There exists a style older than both and generally less well known; the Schwarzbier, which literally translated is “Black Beer.” Unlike its dark cousins which both hail from Britain and are highly hopped ales, Schwarzbier comes from Germany, is lightly hopped and is fermented using a bottom fermenting lager yeast. Samuel Adams® Black Lager is brewed in the tradition of the latter. A medium bodied beer brewed using several different roasts of malt to give the end product a smooth body and a depth of malt character that has to be tasted to be believed.
Carafa® is a registered trademark of Weyermann Malt, Bamburg, Germany."

Plenty of Rogue in PA. And i drink it regularly. Dead Guy is my favorite. Although I had a Arrogant Bastard the other night and it was rather tasty. Also sampled a "Dirty Parrot Ale" today. Not bad at all.

Drank a new Sierra Nevada on tap Saturday night: SN Bike Chico!

It was a light blond in color! Not much hop to it!

Re: What beers are you enjoying?

I highly, highly recommend Okocim porter as a cigar beer. It is full, rich, round, smoky and deep, with the gravity and complexity of a Guinness but with more smoothness and much less bitterness.
