Check out the Cw9 and the CM9. Both can be had from buds gun shop or cheaper than dirt for about $325-$400 shipped to your local FFL. :tu
Shot my friends CW9 and loved it.
here is a pic of the CM9 vs LC9

I too wanted the Ruger, but absolutely hated the long trigger pull. I ended up with the Kahr CM9 and love it. If you are thinking about the PM9, I would encourage you to study the differences in features and prices. I just couldn't personally justify the higher cost of the PM9, but some do and are very happy. My CM9 is my CCW and I love it as I said. I love the trigger and find it very accurate for the size of the weapon. Good luck. Steve

Sig Tac Ops 226 9mm. Amazing weapon, 20+1 stack with 4 mags standard. I will post groupings when I hit the range next, but last time out I put 5 rounds in a quarter at 27 feet.

Serious question- what is 20 grain .22lr good for? I saw it on sale but can't figure out why I would want it.

All my .22lr target ammo is 40 grain.

Rodents makes sense, especially if you are shooting in a barn or something.

Assanations...now yer talkin'! :r

shouldn't it be the other way around?

I'd rather have a lighter grain for targets cause all it has to do is hit.

The heavier grain would be better for varmits because it will have more energy.

The lighter bullets tend to have a much higher velocity making them shoot a bit flatter, also with the higher velocity is the almost explosive type fragmentation when they hit small varmints. One downside with the lighter bullets is that wind affects them more.

For punching holes in paper it does't matter all that much, at least to me.

Yes, but 20 grains difference for a 22, your not going to notice. Also, your not going to be shooting real far with a 22 to be concerned about bullet drop.

Depends on what type of bullet your shooting. Hollow points yes, soft points, not so much.

.22 is so small, wind will affect them both about the same really.

Think of shooting a deer with a 270 and then shooting prairie dogs with a 270.

Heavier bullet for the deer, lighter bullet for the prairie dog. No need to overkill a prairie dog and waste the extra lead and powder.

Same goes for 22 in theory........

I reload all my ammo..................lots of time to play and study :D

Do you still have that rodent that chewed up your bike harness?

I LOVE the look of the LC9, but that trigger pull is just sooo long. I've been looking at both Kahr's lately and am going to the local shop tomorrow to feel them out. I really like what I've read about the PM9 and the CW9 seems like a great lesser expensive version. Looking forward to a little more research tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen.

Hey. the CM9 is a cheaper PM9. Lil less milling, some MIM parts and regular rifling not polygonal rifling. The CW9 is bigger than the CM9 and PM9. Still a smaller gun tho.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

I have a question for the AR gurus. I'm going to start piecing one together soon, but am undecided on which stripped lower to begin with, I've narrowed it down to 3

Stag (can get locally for a good price)
Palmetto State (available online, would be about even to the Stag after FFL fee)
Spikes (4-6 week wait time, bout the same price after fees)

I've read good things about all of them, I'm leaning towards the Stag since it's local-ish, any input?

I would say PSA but that's just me. No personal experience, just heard alot of good things about PSA in the forums. Remember, if you buy the lower at your local dealer u gotta pay tax on it too. Go with the cheapest :tu
