Presidential Limos, from Reagan all the way back to FDR
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...psef330f47.jpg The limo in the foreground was the same limo where Pres. Reagan was hustled into when Hinckley shot him, and the same limo that Pres. Ford took shelter in when Lynette (Squeakey) Fromme, of the Charles Manson gang, pointed a .45 at him. |
Re: Photography Thread
This is the same limo in which JFK was riding when he was shot in Dallas...

These were very gentle horses. They loved the attention from people.

Re: Photography Thread
All your old Nikon lenses will fit that, right?
Well, if you HAD any, I guess. Another of my not quite golden nuggets here. This is the well-known Steamer Natchez parked at the French Quarter dock with one of New Orleans only real iconic 'skyscrapers', the International Trade Mart. If you watch JFK, the white-haired dude that Jim Garrison takes to court to stand trial for conspiracy to ass the prez is said in the script to be the "guy that owns the Trade Mart". That building behind the steamer is the Trade Mart. It was the hub of Cental and South American trade through New Orleans. There used to be a cool rotating bar at the top called The Rain Forest that we always tried to get into when I was a kid, but walk through it and head to the elevator is all we ever dared to do. The sun is glinting off of the most recognizable feature of the Aquarium of the Americas there in the photo as well. This was another dawn photo of this area of town. Might go back down again this weekend. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/...psd88f64a1.jpg |
Re: Photography Thread
No the Nikons won't fit it. It takes minolta lenses. Came with a 50mm f/1.7 lens.
I need to send it to the local shop for a CLA. The mirror sometimes sticks up until I advance the film. |
Re: Photography Thread
Tempted to take my show on the road this weekend, if the weather holds out in NO this weekend,
I think I will. Picked up a 24mm 2.8 manual focus AI lens and think it will be almost perfect for the light I end up shooting on my late night trips. I think I should have gotten a faster lens, but it gets expensive fast once you add WIDE to fast. I think my f/3.3 18-55mm does a decent job, but I take two cameras with me. 50mm f/1.8 ends up being a stovepipe at DX crop, and even the 35mm f/1.8 is too tight to do well in the quarter in the early dawn and dark. So I needed a second, fast, wide alternative. It meters, so that's all I really insist on in a old-time lens. I needed to test it tonight, hell I still have light, lemme go.... |
Re: Photography Thread
Brad. I love manual focusing on my minolta. Split image AND microprism focusing screen. Makes it oh so easy to mf

Re: Photography Thread
Not so easy on the D200, but the hardest thing to remember is to focus. When I am out
at 4 am shooting, it's sometimes hard to see the focus, and other times I have left AF lenses helpless with my BODY on MF and me not even having taken the time to CHECK. I killed 80 pics like this the other morning, PERFECT dawn and night lighting, wasted. I get so excited to be on the scene like a fly on the wall, 'wow, look at that", "Wicked light over there", I just sometimes forget to start right. So we'll see. I HAVE to go to Charlotte and help my sister move in two weeks, so this weekend is a tough call. Not sure I want to be driving SO much. Might not have a choice. New Orleans in the late spring and summer, no es funno. |
