There is a wealth of info.

Or maybe http://armypubs.army.mil/doctrine/DR...f/fm3_22x9.pdf

I just joined the other week. Still haven't had time to browse it all the way yet.

Since I am new to the rifle secen still, I was looking up some good tips to clean the AR. I came across this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKTut...has_verified=1

I don't think I learned anything other than pink is a nice color.

I picked up a Traditions Pursuit UL .50 cal muzzleloader and this week I also got a S&W Bodyguard .380 with the built in laser. Pre-Christmas gifts to myself :D

Will do Mike. I haven't even shot it yet but plan to use it as a backup/off duty while I'm at work. With my small frame it's hard to conceal a G23.

Who here shoots the two dot night sights? or the Straight 8? I have always been a 3 dot guy but I went with the two dot Ameriglo night sights for my shield, I will get them intalled in short order, my question for anyone is if they think target aquisition is any faster with two as opposed to 3 dots?

Re: First Firearm Thread.

I have some 9mm ammo that I just recently shot. I have had it for a few months now before I shot it. It looks dirty and it is reman. I have had a few bullets that where in the mag and did not fire. Happened prolly about 10 times.

Should I sell this ammo cheap or is there anything I should be concerned about if I keep it and waste it?

I also don't want to sell it if that is bad.

Ideas?

68TriShield 12-09-2013 07:23 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

I wouldn't sell. Shoot through them and be very careful about misfires and clean your 9 well.

I have a few pistols with the 2 dot and a few with the 3 dot. I can't honestly say which one I prefer more but it did take me a little adjusting once I bought the first 2 dot.

I prefer the straight-8 over the I-dot even though they are basically the same. The serrations on the Heinie's sight make focusing and lining up the sight easier, I don't know how to explain it but it makes for a better sight picture for me. As for being faster to acquire just depends on your training. For low light/night shooting I prefer the 2 dot versus 3 dot, it just seems less cluttered.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Thanks for the input on the sights, I will get mine on this week and then get some shooting in, I qualified with my Shield last night , 94/100 pushed a couple left as I am not yet used to the slimmer grip.

Mike, did you get the 9 or the .40 Shield? Just curious if you shot both and how they felt. I'm starting to get serious about picking up something for carrying. I already have a Glock .40. Would like to stick with the same ammo if possible. I know too I need to try them myself cause each person is different, just looking for other opinions.

Put a hundred or so rounds through my Shield last night with my new two dot sights, I like the sights just fine, still getting used to the thinness of the Shield and be mindful not to get too much finger on the trigger, but sure is fun to shoot!

That gun appears to have a slide mounted decocking lever, and the trigger has been converted to double action use. Looks like the offspring from a 1911 and a S&W model 645 that had a wild weekend together.

I was wondering how long it would take...seeing the "decocker" on the slide, I have an airsoft like that. Looks "kool" though :)

Never seen a 1911 with a decocker. Heard that Sprinfield did some testing once with a decocker on the CZ series which look very similar to the 1911. But this one really looks like a photoshop special.

Yeah. I'm having a hard time signing up for photobucket. I run a lot of security software, something is getting in the way, java filter or popup blocker or ad stopper or something. Such a purty picture too. I'll try with a different computer.

OK, this looks like it works. I'll figure out the rest of photobucket later.

I got this when they first were available. I'd been reading about them and I liked what I read. Thousands of rounds through it.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

I just looked it up. That pistol is close to thirty years old now. Time sure flies.
People new nothing about them back then. Everyone wanted to shoot it. Luckily ammo was cheap at the time. Now I barely practice that much so I can keep my stockpile high. I would reload cheap stuff except you can't hardly find powder any more. I have thousands of every component but almost no powder.

Gonna show the millwork? I'm kinda curious. I've been thinking about getting one or a few. How easy is it to do a good job routing these out?

Re: First Firearm Thread.

So, two months or so back, after ten plus years of looking I found a used Beretta 92G in very good shape. (Spring loaded decocking lever that doesn't act as a manual safety, other than that is just like a 92F/FS. The G Model is a better mousetrap in my opinion.)

Yesterday I manage to score a second one, from the same (non FFL) vendor at a gun show. Asked him if he'd stumbled into a stash of the things. His reply was that he half expected I'd put that first one back onto the market and he'd run across it again, until he looked at his records.

Weird.
