"The World Until Yesterday" by Jared Diamond. A study of traditional societies. His book "Guns Germs and Steel'" is a must-read and so far this one is just as well written.

I found it hard to follow at times and the explanations went a little too detailed. I would say there are better books out there.

"Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown, it's okay. Not as good as some of his later work.

Now this sounds good. I see the question and answer above. But I'm wondering: is this an easier or harder read than a brief history of time? I've read hawking's book more than a few times. Just wondering if its along the same academic capacity.
