Like this: http://www.remington.com/~/media/Ima..._syn-prod.ashx I shot a rifled 2 3/4" slug. I hit it in the spine from about 40 yards away. I was aiming for vitals but I hit the spine at the base of the neck. It ricochet downward hitting the upper half of the opposite leg shattering the bone. It dropped where it was standing despite my poor shot. I will be doing a little more practice this year with it before I take to the field during firearm season. I just picked up a 15.5 ft ladder stand I'll be putting up in the back yard as well. This will make it even safer given the downward trajectory of any errant or passthrough rounds. It also helps get me closer without giving away my postion. I thought about picking up a cantilevered barrel which when mounted would look like this: http://www.remington.com/~/media/Ima...0exp_slug.ashx The cantilevered barrel is thicker, rifled, and has the scope mount rails. They sell combos with both for around $400. However, I paid $250 for mine and the separate cantilevered barrels run around $200. For that same $200 I can buy a dedicated slug gun and not have to mess with swapping barrels. That is my recommendation for you. If you don't have a good 12-gauge shotgun then buy a combo. If you do have one, just find a good dedicated 12-gauge slug gun. Remington & Mossberg are both really good shotguns that are pretty easy on the wallet. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I have a Remington 870 Express, but it doesn't have a slug barrel. What do you think, buy a slug barrel or just buy a separate gun.
Actually, I think my brother has a Mossberg that has both barrels. Hmmm... :hm |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
LOL, I got an E-mail about that ammo on sale. Not very good pricing, but it's for "home defense".
Imagine explaining to the jury "well, I had this Zombie Max ammo loaded and ready when the guy crawled through my bedroom window" LOL Great commercial/trailer though. They put some thought into it. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Just a heads up, Botach (yes I've heard the horror stories) has aimpoint 3x magnifiers with twist off mount for 299.98 shipped

Since this is supposed to be a Photo thread.
Some shots I took in my garage. http://lonelyraven.zenfolio.com/img/v6/p666327617-4.jpg http://lonelyraven.zenfolio.com/img/v4/p885374063-4.jpg http://lonelyraven.zenfolio.com/img/v9/p476431514-4.jpg And my favorite, "silly blue rifle" - Ruger 10/22 setup for Appleseed events. http://lonelyraven.zenfolio.com/img/v2/p414046462-4.jpg |

I don't think you need so many image tags. LOL
That shotgun looks mean! I was looking at those recoil absorbing stocks like that...I hope to get a 590A1 for my fiance to beat up on. |
