I'm wondering if it is more of a cap move to resign Scherzer and extend Cabrera. I don't like the move either though. Tigers got the wrong infielder from Texas.

WOW!! Didn't see this coming. Makes sense for both teams. Can you imagine Fielder hitting in Texas??

Great, we still have to worry about him Oakland.

Understand the implications for resigning Max, Mike, but I still don't like it. Gave up a lot of production when our middle infield seemed pretty solid.

Re: MLB 2013 Thread

I think its a lot to do with salary as well as Detroit knowing Cabrera is much less of a liability at first base. Now is that enough to get rid of a guy like Fielder? I'm not sure it is. Gotta say this one blindsided me and I follow the AL Central pretty closely.

Kinsler is an upgrade to Infante...more speed and power. Now allows VMart to play first and looks like they still need a DH.

Or you could take Ike Davis/Lucas Duda off our hands. :r :r

Twins finally spending some money on some decent arms. Couldn't get much worse than last year.

Tigers trade Doug Fister to the Nationals for some scrubs.

If we can just send Cabrera, Verlander and Scherzer to the Cubs for Dave Kingman, the downfall will be complete.

Dumb move on their part in my opinion. But hey, Texas does like to go big!

It can't, and I can't believe the coaching staff was re-upped, unchanged.

If I hear one more guy tell me that the "Twins pitch to contact", I'm gonna throw up.

Hope he had a physical. Mujica was really good until mid-August. Then, he couldn't get my grandma out ... consistently VERY bad.

That would be a great pickup, though he wasn't his "2012" self last year.... still a great player for that team. I've always liked CG.

If he can return to form, be a great addition to any team. :tu

2011/2012 were great years for him, and I've always liked his spirit as a player. He just looks ready to go, no matter what. 2013 performance aside, I'd take a gamble on him - if you could even call it that.

Now Cano? Errrrrr... I think you could put together a pretty good 2,3 and 4 hitter section for that dough!

Smoqman 12-06-2013 08:53 AM

Re: MLB 2013 Thread

Then again, Cano might be Jordan-esque in the sense that he might elevate everyone else around him.... so...

Now this is a hell of a contract. Too much and too long of a contract for him, I like what the Mets did a lot better.

I'm praying the Sox can somehow dump DUNNNN DUNN DUNN DUNNN. DH Paulie and let's see how Abreu does at first.

Who's left on the market for catchers and 3rd basemen?

It's getting to where guys are getting paid for their retirement years, isn't cano 31? Good luck with that.

Mike Napoli resigns 2/32 with the Sox, seems he actually turned down more years/ money from Texas(?) to resign with the Sox, love to see that.

As a Tiger fan, I was hopng you would get AJP back too. And keep Dunn, play Paulie at 1st, and keep Abreu in the minors to develop. :r

Sad to Hector go though. Now, let's try and grab a legit 3rd baseman and/or catcher and will be looking a little better!

Talks that the Tigers are interested in Matt Kemp, or at least have asked about him. Now how did the Prince and Fister deals make any sense if the Tigers turn around and take on Kemp's contract?
