I carry a small fixed as a utility knife, a supplement to my folder. Beauty and the Beast if you will. The fixed has a thicker one piece blade that usually gets used for tasks such as pry bar, pineapple cutter, etc.... anything the folder can't do well (cleanup) or physically cant do.

I need to pick up a new folder. Any suggestions for a knife with a short straight edge blade that wont dull quick?

What blade length do you need? Price range?

less than 3" don't know a price yet

Look at the benchmades in D2 tool steel. I'd have to say they hold an age quite a long time.

IIRC that one is VERY new. I'm not a Kershaw fan, but I'm sure it's a decent knife.

I'll be picking both Cryo's up. The bigger one comes out next month, the 2.75" come out end of the year.

Tony(Tjarv) check out the spyderco knives. I'm a BIG fan of Spyderco.

Hey only my gf says stuff like that to me

I have a ton of knives but not really any smaller ones, and I saw one with a short blade on it at the gun show but it was a cheapo

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread

how much do you want to spend sir? that's important. then i can find you some knives. what's the intended use? collection? just cutting open letters, and taped up boxes?

TJarv 07-01-2012 11:50 AM

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread

less than $50

I'll carry it some, open boxes, need it to stay sharp

emopunker2004 07-01-2012 11:57 AM

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread

In that price range I recommend for Spyderco:

Spyderco Persistence
Blue: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderc...g-Knife--12604
Black: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Persistence--4067

Spyderco Delica- lil over your price

Brown: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Delica-Flat--5331
Green: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Delica-Flat--5333
Blue: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Delica-Flat--5465
Grey: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Delica-Flat--5466
Black: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderc...d-Black--11495
Orange: http://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderc...-Ground--10397

I'll post some Kershaw in a second. In your price range I like Spyderco and Kershaw

That sucks. Tony, the Kershaw Blur is great for the price if you don't mind having a 3.3" blade. Kershawguy sells blem models for $35 shipped

I'm in the same boat, after doing some reading I came across the Boker Plus Nopal. They run around $35 but have some good reviews and I'm a fan of warncliff blades. I have not tried one yet but once I order it I will report back

Hey albert have you mentioned the warny blade. You check out the kershaw needs work? Many diff handle colors, assisted open, 3" warny blade. Made in USA

Indeed steve. the para is the perfect edc size. I love the compression lock though on the back instead of the liner lock.

I just ordered my first custom folder so I should see it in about 4-6 months. I will definitely post it up here when I finally have it in hand.

Definitely a good deal. You can normally find a Tremor for around 20.

Just so you know, this is a pretty big knife. I have friends who own it and don't carry it as much for fear of scaring paranoid non-knife people. ;)
