I have to agree, I'd read some lackluster reviews on a lot of Habanos' Anejados lines, but I quite enjoyed the Partagas Coronas Gordas as well! First half was good, but the last 1/2 was especially great. |

But okay yeah Tom I just looked at my box and while I don't have any others to compare them to, the wrappers look to be on the more lighter side - so it appears I might have lucked out! |

I'm happy you did. Michael! I hate dark wrappers!!

I'll admit this one is just a bit too much on the light side body-wise for my fancy, but made for a fine breakfast smoke. Lots of subtle flavors and complexities going on in this cigar, thanks Todd!! |

2015 Oliva Serie V Corona (or Petite Corona?) - I had been eyeing this one in the sampler RevSmoke sent, smoking absolutely beautifully...just what I'd expect from a Serie V but more intense flavor due to the vitola and 10 times smoother than some of the younger Serie V's I've had. Thanks Todd for another great smoke!! |

Wow Vin that's really cool!
Another from RevSmoke - https://i.postimg.cc/wjZs0tDp/0-D287...A1-F1-D0-C.jpg 2009 Litto Gomez - quite possibly the finest Dominican I have smoked to date...Rev/Todd described it as what an Opus X should be, and I couldn't agree more, absolutely spectacular...a cigar worthy of a review if my phone wasn't about to die, d'oh. Big thanks to Todd for this one, definitely my favorite out of his sampler so far. |
Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
I couldn’t wait. Smoked this 601 Steel ROTT from the package gomeitsmybday sent my way. Right up my alley!!!

They seem to go under the radar, cigarauctioneer always seems to have plenty of 601 Steels at killer prices (I've seen below $3 a stick) and the last box I got was already a couple years old, so yeah I think it's become a new staple for me. :D |

Partagas Serie P #2 - Back again but this time with one from Weelock! Acquired from our most recent trade, this is the first one out of that trade I've smoked and it's one heck of a cigar, slow burn & jam packed with flavor. :tu |
Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
Love those Partagas cigars. Glad you enjoyed that cigar as well.

Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
From gomeitsmybday. I am working my way through the bomb he trashed me with and tried two cigars he recommended. As in all things, everyone’s tastes and desires are unique so one was a hit and the other good but a few things I OCD on that made it not as favorable to myself.
First up, Sinestro The Last Cowboy. Band is awesome, love the name, cigar foot is crazy and I had to look it up. It’s Candela wrapped around the foot. The cigar is strong on the mouth so that is full body for myself and quite a bit of pepper. This cigar had a lot of flavor but definitely dominated by the body. I found the strength to be full as well and smoked this corona for an hour and a half. This is a great cigar and I would definitely buy this cigar. The Crook and Crown by Stolen Thrones had a lot of flavor and good strength but I got hung up on the Indonesian dry mouth finish. The Indonesian tobacco is pretty strong and adds some nice flavor balance but left my mouth parched even after a drink of beer. This cigar tastes great but I would pass on buying any however I did just get a petite robust in a sampler hah!!! I will be able to do a second opinion :) https://i.postimg.cc/76QhmySY/60-DAC...CEE3-F4-BA.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/NF9MnPx8/AEFC1-...A188-AA0-F.jpg |

ERDM Dunhill Seleccion No. 98 from GTS21. So good -- I've heard ERDM described as the poor man's Davidoff, and this one fit that description perfectly. Thanks again, Eric. |
Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
@ Snook if you like a strong, flavorfully spicy cigar then you absolutely need to try them, just make sure you get the Maduro version, as I believe the natural is less strong.
@ Vin another impressive cigar!! https://i.postimg.cc/NF1fpm69/DF6-CF...D7-CD94-B9.jpg Cigar Federation The Collective Toro - another from Weelock's sampler, this was a nice surprise! I read up on it before lighting, and it started off flavorful but maybe a bit lighter than expected, as the description says it's has Ligero in the blend. 1/3 the way in, the cigar ratcheted up in strength and I figured out where the Ligero was hiding! :D Very flavorful cigar, thanks to Weelock! |
Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
*correction* that was Medio tiempo, not Ligero in that blend!

Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
I just nubbed a RA Club Corona '07 CC from a recent spanking from out friendly neighborhood Icehog, enjoyed on my front porch in 80* weather with an adult beverage (vodka an cranberry in a styrofoam Chick-Fil-A cup, though a random zephyr did blow it over a spill my last few sips onto the step) while listening to Papa Haydn symphonies streamed via Bluetooth from my Dell Inspiron laptop to the JBL Flip 4 speaker I acquired a a bargain price through the internet thanks to a CNet deal alert in my inbox, whilst sitting on an old Kodalux cushion to ease my bony butt a bit, and wearing my NY Yankees cap and one of the Picasso t-shirts (a burgundy one) which I bought at the massive exhibit in 1980 at MOMA in midtown Manhattan, as well as a ratty old pair of New Balance sneakers and the Levi's Signature jeans purchased through Walmart online thanks to a gift card I received from a nephew for Christmas 1999, over some Prana knitwear I normally don in lieu of more standard underwear. All in all, a very enjoyable 45 minutes or so.
TMI? Well, excuuuuse me, but the combination of the Cuban lithium and the alcohol has me even more loopy than is normal for me. Besides, I often get busted for not posting pictures, so I am doing my best to provide you with those thousand words instead. :r |

Continuing through my trade with Gomeitsmybday.
601 Blue - fantastic. Maybe even better then the Don Pepin days!!! Holy get them Batman. 601 Red tonight. As good as the DPG for sure. Excellent cigar. https://i.postimg.cc/RCc9hQ3s/2-BAEC...9013-FEB58.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/J0cWFMVV/61-EAE...0-D9797136.jpg |

https://www.cigaraficionado.com/arti...01-brand-19153 Particularly for the price, they are spectacular cigars imo & I highly recommend that folks that used to like DPG 601s reconsider trying the new ones again! Btw Dave I don't know about you, but the 601 Red reminds me a lot of the RASS. Of course, not completely identical, but it seems to me that if someone was to blend a NC cigar that was inspired by the RASS, the 601 Red would be a worthy attempt! |

BBF thanks to Weelock! I'm a big fan of Bolivar as a brand, consistent & flavorful and imo it shines best in the BF format. I know a lot of folks like the RCs and they are great too, but for my money, BF > RC. |

Another 601 from Gomeitsmybday, the 601 La Bomba Atom.
Ok, last La Bomba I’d smoked was an ICPCR release gifted to me by a cigar shop owner. This Atom does NOT match my recollection at all. The OR was more of a woodsy Corojo medium body cigar if memory serves me correctly and was unremarkable. This cigar was full bodied and a little over my head LOL. Wow. This was a strong cigar!! Definitely pays to revisit cigars. https://i.postimg.cc/J0pFzGDW/FD05-C...25-D62-BC5.jpg |
Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
Excellent! I had a feeling you'd like that one, definitely a powerful smoke. However, just to be clear, that one in your photo is a special release, the 601 La Bomba Warhead Maduro...here is a Halfwheel link to that release:
https://halfwheel.com/601-la-bomba-warhead-iv/279221/ Boxes of 10, a bit pricier and harder to come by, but worth it imo! Now, I did also include an original 601 La Bomba blend in your sampler as well (It's probably either a corona or toro) which has the yellow label on the foot and yeah that one has more of a corojo profile so I suspect that's the one you have had before. Will be curious to see what you think of that one as well!! :tu |

Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
Thanks for clearing me up!!! This makes so much more sense, wow.
This cigar was so dramatically different then I recollect but I didn’t think to check on Maduro. The construction was really interesting on the PIF tail fuse hah. Thanks for letting me try this cigar!! Quote:

Okay my turn!
https://i.postimg.cc/15yqMg9Z/74348-...0769-E40-C.jpg Blackbird Cigar Co/Cubra Raven - thanks to Weelock for this one! Very rich, but surprisingly smooth for how strong it is, almost no pepper except for a light zing on the finish which is nice! The profile is a little nondescript but despite that, very enjoyable and it burns like a charm, not a single relight or touch up! Thanks again for the tasty stogie Weelock! |

From Hippi3Slay3r the first up from his MAW / PIF package he sent me. This is ROTT and as predicted, it never made it to the humidor. The Viaje Satori in a size I’ve never tried. I have smoked two or three boxes of the toro size and this is from the good years of Viaje, I can tell!!!!
Rich, smooth, sweet, pepper, charred cedar, oh my. Honestly a perfect cigar for me and my palate. Viaje just doesn’t make a cigar like this anymore but the new release Oro is as good as any I remember so maybe he is getting things in order. A wonderful cigar And a rare HTF so thank you very much!!!! This cigar brings back so many memories. https://i.postimg.cc/yxtf26VT/3-D77-...E454-F3439.jpg |
Re: I had a great cigar today thanks to......
Glad you enjoyed it. I'll have to head back to the shop I picked it up from if I remember they were still sitting on about a dozen of them plus a few 2018 LE skull and bones and full moons.
