I have always wanted to try one of the Woodcuts, but $25 for a bottle is too rich for my blood!

Re: beer hauls
They all are very good, and very pricey...I mean that is 8 Punkins! Got it mostly for GABF week here in Denver to share with friends, and because I can't stop at No. 3, right? Oak aged 11%ABV lager sounded interesting and with the excellent track record of the other other Woodcuts I had to go for it. I'll let you guys know how it stacks up in the other thread when I open it next week.
Still a bargain compared to that fancy grape juice stuff :) |

1) KBS: It's a solid Stout with great flavors that seem to change when it warms up. The last few sips always taste like the best chocolate shake. Very balanced beer with the bourbon. 2) GIBCS: Out of the three this one for me you can really get a alcohol flavor, it doesn't hide and is your face. The flavors I get in the GIBCS as it warms is always buttered toast (which is first) and the last one I seem to get is hostess fruit pie. 3) BS: I think for a basic stout the BS it a solid beer but when compared to the others it loses. -edit- this was something I typed up after splitting some beers with a couple friends. Re: beer hauls
I stopped in the local shop today to buy some wine for my wife, and they had these Paulaner glasses with a 1 liter can of wiesn beer, so I got one of those too. The 16oz can of Surly is alongside just for size comparison. :chr

Re: beer hauls
Good haul tonight...
3 x Pliny the Elder (max allowed) 1 x RR Temptation 1 x Victory Saison du BUFF 1 x De Dolle Bos Keun |
Re: beer hauls
Nice scores b0rder and wyguy! Let us know how the pliny is.
|
Re: beer hauls
Pliny is as good as always, only a week and a day old all the way out here in Colorado, I am impressed. An 'often imitated, never duplicated' sort of thing...I would not call myself a hop fan, but I do enjoy the balance and clean, I suppose, taste and mouth feel of the classic Pliny, the mildly sweet finish brings it all together. Lots of good beers downed tonight along with it, on the eve of our date with GABF.
|
Re: beer hauls
Nice, I've yet to try pliny. I've had Dreadnaught and loved it, I hear good things about the elder and the younger.

I think they had the Pliney pack for $12.95. (Edit... I just looked and it is now $10.95) I have ordered from them before and the hops and service were both fantastic. Shipping was USPS Priority. |

Re: beer hauls
Those are some quality beers Joey. Nice Haul!!!
|
Re: beer hauls
Thanks, Travis. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but I was at a chain-grocer liquor store so there wasn't too much in the way of extraordinary. I have those at home already!! This whole beer cellar thing is as expensive as cigars, but takes up a shitload more room!
|
Re: beer hauls
nice haul for sure...would like to hear your thoughts on the LH Oktoberfest. I found it pretty tasty, but maybe too much caramel.
