Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
I'm hoping Pacquiao can get the win, but I'd have to put my money on "money" to win in split d.

I'm pulling for Manny too, but like Nate, no way I would put money against Floyd. :(

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Yah it would be like betting against Floyd beating one of his baby mamma, just not a bet you feel confident taking.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
What time is it supposed to start?

For those asking (and there are a lot of you), the PPV has started. The main event between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is supposed to start shortly after 8 p.m. PT |

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Mayweather has hugged Manny more times in 6 rounds than my mom did in my entire life.

A bit of a family secret.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
It's hilarious reading all the celebrities b!tch on Twitter about how boring the fight was. No sh!t, Sherlock. Obviously have never watched a Mayweather fight before.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Pacquiao - "I thought I won the fight."
Kellerman - "Really? Why did you think you won the fight?" Pacquiao - "Because he didn't do anything." :r |

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Pretty much what I expected, including the unanimous decision.
When you get two aging fighters in the ring, it's a lot easier to be the defensive guy than the aggressor guy, especially when the defensive guy has reach and size on his side. I thought both guys gave it a good go, fought cleanly and with a minimum of clinching. Personally I enjoyed the fight, and agree with the decision. Mayweather is on his peak right now. He has no more frontiers in front of him, other than maybe setting spending records in the strip clubs and at the exotic car dealerships around town. Pacquiao on the other hand has a good shot at being president of his country in a few years. I suspect he still has a few chapters to write. |
Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
I agree with the decision as well, Bill, but I was disappointed with the fight. Manny's chances involved volume punching, using angles, and being the better power puncher. He did none of the first two and little of the third.
Agreed that he's the better man, and hoping his life continues to bring him good things. For Floyd, still hoping someone like Keith Thurman can get lucky and catch him and keep him from the undefeated wins record. But Floyd is smart, and will likely pick someone like Khan, who should be an easier opponent matched up with FDloyd's skills. |
Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Yeah, two things did surprise me about the fight.
First, Manny threw less punches than probably any fight he's been in in recent memory. That really shocked me. Maybe his shoulder was hurting him as has been reported, but if that was the case he should have asked for a postponement, not only for his sake but for that of the fans paying all that money. If he was truly injured, going into a fight of that magnitude at half speed was really stupid. Second was the post fight interviews. Floyd, who we all know has a rather inflated opinion of himself, was actually pretty gracious in what he had to say about Manny. No mouthing off at all. Manny on the other hand came across to me as being very whiny. Not what I expected from either of them. But that's just my two centavos. :D |
Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Manny Pacquiao will undergo right shoulder surgery later this week to repair a "significant tear" in his rotator cuff, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache told ESPN.com on Monday night.
"We have an MRI scan that confirms he has a rotator cuff tear. He has a significant tear," said ElAttrache, who was still with Pacquiao at his Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic office in Los Angeles when he spoke to ESPN.com. ElAttrache said Pacquiao will be out of action between nine months and a year, assuming the surgery and rehabilitation go well. |
Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
I saw on the news this morning that Manny is getting sued because he knew of the injury before the fight. His trainer told him to just take it easy with training for a while and he be good to go for the fight. Looks like he was wrong.

I want my $99 back.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground
Anyone else here been through a torn rotator cuff and surgery? I have. Significant, they say. A jab or uppercut would be no problem. A cross would be okay if it connected. A miss would have hurt the shoulder bad because the cuff muscle is what stops the arm and pulls it back from a throwing motion. Hits to his shoulder would have hurt and had a bad effect on it, slowing him down. Swinging his arm up and out like to block would have hurt like hell.
I guess I can't blame him for not postponing though. Looks like that may have been his last big fight. |
