Tim, here's a couple pix of the bag. It's quite large inside but looking at it closed you wouldn't think it holds a much.

I got the rest of the stuff that I need on order. 4 GB memory card, USB cable, and a telephoto zoom lens. :noon I've been reading some from the manual, and the AF function on this camera seems pretty straightforward. I'll be using the single servo lenses for now; I haven't looked yet at any of the continuous servo ones, which seem more sophisticated.

Edited to add: Wait, is there a difference? Can I use either AF mode with an AF-S lens, which I have on order? No big deal, just curious.

Thanks. I had to go out and buy the 35mm f1.8 lends for my D100, and a memory card. Yeah the autofocus seems a bit fussy, in fact this was manual focus, down to the closest distance, with the lens open all the way in aperture priority mode, ISO 200. White balance in sunlight in auto mode looks a tad blue, but that can be compensated

emopunker2004 03-30-2013 04:27 PM

Re: Photography Thread

Yep. If u shoot raw I would use auto wb. Easy to correct in post. Is 200 as low as the ISO goes?

shark 03-30-2013 04:34 PM

Re: Photography Thread

With the D100, yes. I really would like 100 or even 64, but, it is what it is.

Re: Photography Thread

Yeh. My d90 I had was the same way. My canon 60d is 100 which is nice.

Re: Photography Thread

So you now have three lenses, Shark? 18-55, a tele zoom and a 35mm 1.8?
That's a nice grouping.
A few days left on my Easter vacation, then its back to the grind in Memphis. I will be in
the Western NC mountains tomorrow, so I will try to shoot something good. I took some
photos in Charlotte yesterday, my nephew drug me and his new Olympus DSLR around town
and showed me some nice scenes. The light was perfect downtown yesterday. As is the
usual with the D70, I get 1/3 gold, 1/3 crap, and 1/3 crap that can be fixed in Photoshop.
If I get it together tonight I will post a few of the shots I took yesterday. Some of them
are REALLY nice. Pedestrian but nice for me so far. I am evolving with my skills on this
camera. I was a master of the P&S camera, now I am a roundhead again, a plebe.

OK, these are not so hot, but I like the way this thread is rolling along,
ehh, might as well do my bit.

This one was just too cool not to shoot.

I really liked the way the sun was coming through the flags, and the buildings in Charlotte are very photogenic.

Of course sometimes things just LOOK like a picture

The canon 200eg bag is good and not pricey. How much u wanna spend on a flash?

I was thinking in the 100-150ish price range. She has an external flash but it's too bright for indoor and it drains batteries like crazy.

Check crumpler bags. I have a 7 million dollar home of them and is pretty awesome for walking around. I use a backpack for when in the field though
