Re: First Firearm Thread.

Haven't posted in a long while.
First is my MkII/III 22/45. Kingshouse Grip mod,VZ grips, Ed Brown mag release, Sam Lam bushing, VQ sear, pretravel screw in trigger.

While I was waiting for that, I sent the upper to ADCO for threading, install of a TacSol rail, and Fire Sights..

So now, I have this...

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97...1/DSC02042.jpg

Then a couple months ago, I found an offer I couldn't refuse. Got a LNIB S&W 41 for a ridiculously low price. Sorry for crappy pics..

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97...1/DSC02081.jpg

Waiting on a "Bully" barrel for it. Should be ready next month.

Finally , a couple weeks ago I picked up a S&W M&P 15-22. No pics, but we all know what they look like...

Very fond of your choice in .22 pistols. I love my S&W 422.

Scored 100 rounds of 45 ACP at the gun show yesterday for $42 :tu was debating grabbing a second box when the two that weren't in my hand were snatched up.

Found a new range bag too, got an Ace Cases Pro Shooter bag. Been using my Glock range bag even though I sold off my last Glock a year ago. Hoping I can get a few bucks for the Glock bag on fleabay.

Yep anything cheaper than .50 cents a round, ( plus not dealing with shipping ) is a deal.

That's amazing, plus just plain sad.....
I'd better get my backup mag for my 45ACP before they are all gone. MasterPiece is all sold out. I have a secondary distributor.

Meanwhile...In Colorado...

Wha? Not my intention. Guns by themselves already are enough. That's a magazine factory closing. It happens to be Magpul, mentioned in about 10 posts here. Nothing more.

If your trigger finger is as itchy on that shotgun, I'm not trick or treating at your house :)

I was going for the safetyless Glock theme :p The safety selector will go on once my Magpul grip comes in (hopefully tomorrow)

Nice!

Picked up my Rock River lowers for my son and I yesterday.
Lower parts kit on order from Rock River.
Now searching/keeping an eye out for a Magpul CTR and tube kit.

Some day, eventually, an upper will come into my life and will own a third AR.
Thinking of keeping it all Rock River and am really in love with this one as of today.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Got shipping info on my order from NatchezSS, some PMC X-Tac. Won a VLTOR CASV-EL on ebay over the weekend. That should be arriving this week. New to me Hogue grip on the way. Same for a GG&G flip down rear sight and a MI flip down front. Lastly, Primary Arms should be getting my red dot out to me soon. Now if I would only get shipping conf on the AR.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

PMC xtac is decent. I need to get a stronger hammer spring. Sometimes I have to hit the xtac twice to get them to fire. Hard primers

Just figured out my issue. I put the hammer spring in backwards on my lower :sl

Funny that I only had issues with XTAC. Oh well. I'll rectify the issue later today,

Well got that hammer out of my lower and flipped the spring around. Put it back in. All is well now in my AR-15 :D

Checked my wife's lower too, had her's in right. :tu

For anyone building their lower, here's a pic for reference.

One is my son's and have no clue what he is planning but the other? Yeah, really like that R3 and may get it unless something else catches my eye along the way.
I am figuring six months or less to order. Planning on a needed loan the wife and I discussed and I know she will concede a few bucks of it to this project. I hope.

It is no darn sweet looking.

Yes I liked the features, plus that directionally Ported muzzle break for recoil management. Bummed now I just found out my .45 magazine I had bookmarked is now out of stock. :bh

EMO:
Looks like and easy oversight to make. You made me want to check mine since it went full tear down for cleaning after it's last outing. Easy to check.

Oh, that would add some flavor to a traffic stop! (Wait, my statement wasn't too political was it? :D )

No fresh gear to brag on today but got to give thumbs up to Sig Sauer on this new-to-me P238 that's in my weak side front pants pocket right now. Can't make it malfunction shooting it one handed with a deliberately wimpy grip, much less when holding it properly. Even in all-black trim this wee blaster is cute enough to give a name to, a practice that usually makes me roll my eyes and wonder about those of you who do it all the time. ;) How about "My Little Pony"? After all the P238 is a rebooting of the old Colt Mustang...

Love my wife's P238.
She has the HD which is a bit heavier and enough to give it yet more controlled recoil.
Well made fun gun to shoot.

I'm spying "lambo" style doors there as well. Go ahead name it. How about "biscuit" ? You have to test it in a sentence.

Hold on honey, I gotta put the Biscuit away.
This guy is lucky I left my Biscuit at home today.
That's a lot of cash to carry. I'd better bring Biscuit

Yeh but Glocks have better rust resistance! I had an M&P 40 and in the FL humidity it seemed like it rusted if it even looked outside.

I had similar issue a few years ago with one of thse reduced power spring kits running Guatemalan 5.56, so I prolly would have blamed the ammo rather then check my spring installation lol :sh

I now agree. Used to be a Glock guy. My wife bought a S&W M&P 45 ACP Compact this week. The slide is black and the frame is flat dark earth. Took it out the next to shoot and we both love it. Going to get one for myself.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

gah, I love multiple levels of incompetence...

Called UPS a few weeks ago, spoke to a guy in the haz mat department. Got all the specifics for how to ship ammo. Certain box strength, level, etc. Then take it to a UPS service center (hub).

Took it to the hub today. "oh no, we can't take that here" .... "try taking it to the gun store down the street, they have the right account for that."

took it to the gun store, talked to the owner. "just take it to the post office, and don't tell them what it is. There's not restrictions on shipping ammo anyway. Guns yes, but ammo no."

:bh bloody frickin incompetent lot of em... :bh

So my choices are down to
A) Flat rate box at the post office.
B) Take it to the UPS stare, call it precision machine parts, and call it a day.
C) Sign up for a Hazmat business account with UPS and pay $10/week (required) for a weekly scheduled pickup at my house.

Leaning towards B...

emopunker2004 02-20-2013 12:56 AM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

UPS hub is the right choice. Next time ask for a manager as the person you talked to is an Idiot.

It's illegal to ship ammo USPS.
