I just had to cancel one of the ammo sales I made on gunbroker. Un believable how much people CAN'T #$^#$^ READ. Terms of the sale (stated clearly in the auction): 1) No sales to Illinois 2) Buyer responsible to know local laws. 3) check/money order only. This dimwit lives in Illinois and bid on it... So I let that slide, just send me your FOID card and we'll call it good. Then come to find out he moved, didn't get a new FOID card or ID, and those are the only two addresses I can send to. Oh yeah, and "his wife is not comfortable with with a check", so now he wants to use HeyGal, which is even more of a no-no for guns than it is for cigars! So yep... out $20 in listing fees, time spent researching Illinois law... God people, is it that **** hard to READ the auction before you start bidding? /Rant Off |

did someone else bid? sell it to them

Just finished writing a nice 1.5 page letter this joker explaining in no uncertain terms that he basically has three options. Get his sh!t together, fix his ID and mail a check... /OR/ send me $24 in listing fees via HeyGal, we'll leave positive feedback and go our ways... /OR/ I file for non paying bidder with gunbroker and they will terminate his account. :bx |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Grabbed 4 boxes of 180 grain Underwood xtp 10mm. Want to grab another handgun soon, possibly another Glock. RRA ar-15 after that:D

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Someone stop me please. I'm considering selling my AR-15 and getting DSLR equipment again...

Guess I can just save some monies from my tax return and work some OT... It just costs so much to replace my AR ammo right now and I can shoot a DSLR all day for free basically :r |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Just need a couple hi cap mags, err, I mean memory cards :)

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Ugh. I guess I'm gonna put up 100rds of my 5.56 for trade. I need some Federal LE132 or PD132 low recoil 00 buck with the flight control wad.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
It's federal LE132-00 or PD132-00 and they have a 127 which is full power. The ones I got are low recoil

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Here's my haul. 180rds of federal LE132-00 :noon

Got a shipping notice from PSA that the upper shipped. Amazed that it only took a week.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Actually 4 days (ordered on Tuesday). I may have to take a look at both uppers when they get here next week and decide which one I want to keep. I hope to be breaking her in next weekend.
On another note, shot my friends AR9 today and was surprised at how fun it was to shoot. Very little recoil and was quieter than I expected. I really want to build one now |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
So I'm really getting geeked about getting my AR. I'm never satisfied with stock. I can see this getting very costly. :D
Been researching new front rails. Since I don't have access to the tools, and don't know anyone with them, I'm looking at two piece rails. YHM, Troy, DD are all contenders. Then I saw the Vltor. Ooh. Right in my wheel house. I love the minimalistic look. Now if only someone has them in stock. Eh, no rush. Still need the gun first. |

This is a troy alpha rail and STR stock. Nice and simple! http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/3a93cd16.jpg |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I like my Magpul ACS stock ;)
While I'm waiting for my upper to come, I've been looking at scopes but I'm so lost. What's a decent scope for 50-200yards (probably shooting at around 100yards most of the time)? Preferable at or around $200. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.

Troy is good, light, nice feel. I've got a 15" troy alpha rail. Bear in mind that all barrel nuts are not created equal, so it's not unheard of to find a troy alpha rail (or other similarly attaching tubes) not line up right or fit a little off. The general advice in those cases is try a different barrel nut :) For my current build, I'm getting ready to order a Diamondhead V-RS rail. I like the aggressive front look, and the barrel nut it uses is pure genius - no fancy tools needed, and it sits below the gas tube, so you don't have to line them up and screw with timing issues. There's some pics of the barrel nut about halfway down in this thread here. A word of warning though with this one - the stated measurement length is for the TOP half. The bottom sits about 1 3/8" forward of the top. So a 15" rail is really 16 3/8" at the bottom. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_12/58...Handguard.html |

Or Vortex if u want a 4-12x but not sure it'd be too good at 50yrds

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Went to a local gun show today to see if I could get a hands on feel for ideas on my setup. Price gouging was in full effect. Tulammo for $1/rd. :r
There was one table with a couple of guys selling some of their own stuff they've collected, not the typical dealers. Anyway he had an Acog on the table. Start talking to him about it and checking it out. If it wasn't brand new, it was damn near close. $600. He had already sold 9 earlier in the day. This was the last one. They had gotten them from an auction, so they didn't know any history in them. I left to check out the rest if the tables, and contemplate how I could come up with $600. Came back and it was sold. Damn, but my wallet thanked me. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
2-7x might be a nice range for you. Redfield makes a budget minded one. Still useful at close range, and a little extra clarity farther away.
I guess it depends what you're going to shoot at 50 yards too... a 3-9x is a fairly classic scope range and readily available. Me personally, I like things CLOSE for target shooting. I'd use a 20x at 100yds if I could. More tactical oriented shooting however, and it's 1-4x or 2-7x at max. My mini14 wears a 3-9x. My 3gun AR will wear a 1-4x. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Another option is a higher magnification scope but to have iron sights on the gun at a 45* offset for close work, which I'd say 50yrds counts as.

Of course, I stuck the $35 cheap ones on the 15-22... and they feel like it. On a plinker AR, screw it, I would probably still use the $35 ones.... for a competition gun like the 3gun one I'm building... I imagine I'll eventually have to bite the bullet and pony up the $230 for real ones.... |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
yeah, though if you're using em for a pair of normal mount rail sight blocks (like the spare pair I got kicking around that came on my 15-22), they will sit pretty high off the gun. Kinda awkward. :)
Always did think having a red dot mounted like that next to a 2-7x or a 3-9x scope was a pretty slick setup. :tu |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Francis. Here's a buckshot comparison at 15yrds into a car door. LE132-00 on the left, regular tactical buckshot on the right...just saying...
