Tonight, SA alpine spring Bells Hopslam x 3 Goose Island King Henry Henry is unreal:D |
Re: What beers are you enjoying II?
King Henry is pitch black.. Pours like a stout, but it's a barrel aged barleywine. Aged in Pappy 23 barrels, same as Bourbon County Rare! Damn this beer is complex!
|
Re: What beers are you enjoying II?
The barrel character in King Henry is the insane! Such great flavors.. I wish I had the chance to get a bottle of Rare, because the 23 Pappy barrels have done wonders to this barleywine. Simply great:tu

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?
Having some Dry Irish Stout on nitro out of the keezer with a Cohiba Black at the moment.
|
Re: What beers are you enjoying II?
Just some beers for me tonight, too damn cold to step out and smoke a PC. Possibly a 2011 Bourbon County Stout next:tu
|
Re: What beers are you enjoying II?
Wow, plenty of tobacco notes in King Henry.. Chocolate as well. Leather, nuts, leather, booze and cream dance in and out as well... Finishes just smooth as hell..

The 09 was boozy but I think that's one reason it's really turning out great now! It's fun trying out the same beer as time goes on to see certain one progress.

That said, Monk's is a good example of that style IMO, but certainly not the best. I think Rodenbach Grand Cru (not the regular Rodenbach) is a better example of the style. There are also a lot of other sour/wild styles out there, some very sour and some barely sour at all. |

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?
Ruthless Rye from Sierra Nevada......GREAT STUFF!! So happy we finally got something other than the Pale Ale up here. Don't get me wrong, I still love the PA, but it's nice to have something different from them finally.
Other favorite was their Tumbler Ale, but only had 1 12 pack in stock and never replenished. :( |
