Toews tied it 1-1 on a penalty shot after being hooked by Lidstrom on a breakaway. Hossa tied it 2-2 starting on the right side boards, going across the middle and beating Filpula wide, and Seabrook got the game winner on a one-timer on a great pass from Kane. Bertuzzi came looking for Carcillo after Carcillo decked him along the boards, and Daniel tagged him two good rights. Great night for the Hawks, except on the powerplay (0 for 5). |

Can't wait for tonight's B's Stars game, last year I think it was eight fights and the Bruins beat the Stars to a pulp.

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread

Jerome Iginla scored #499 today....still has 5 minutes left to get 500.
|
Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread
Going to the Hawks - Oilers game tomorrow. Bought tickets to this one because I wanted to see 3 recent 1st round picks (Hall #1-2010, Nugent-Hopkins #1 2011 and Eberle #22 2010) on one line....the kids are pretty amazing.
That being said, I still hope the Hawks smoke 'em. :r |

Great Winter Classic game today. Makes you want to lace them up and get on the pond.
|
Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread
No ponds here, but did want to go to the rink.
Played in a father son game yesterday though and that was pretty awesome. |
Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread
Just noticed the hockey thread!
I'm from Calgary. Haven't lived there for a while but follow the Flames when I can. Watched the Preds game when Jarome got 499. I am back to Calgary late Jan and kinda hoping I get to see 500 though I think he get's it before then. Ice Hog, my gramps is a huge Blackhawks fan. Loved that they won the cup while he was still around. He'd been waiting a long time! |

Hey Tom how many games is Carcillo going to get? 3-6 that was nasty.

Not a good hit. Very dangerous and dumb. The worse thing from his side is he slowed down to get behind him then sent him into the boards. Wonder if his knee got trashed. Be funny if they hold his suspension tilll after he recovers

Thank dog December's over. Was a BAD month by the Wild. :( Went to the game on the 26th when Spurgeon got checked from behind. They had him strapped to a gurney on the way out of the arena, and the guy who hit him didn't get a suspension. Something tells me there will be some glovesdropped the next time they meet the Avs.
As they get guys back healthy, I think their fortunes will turn again, and that December will be an aberration, not a norm. |

I am sure there would be some retribution.... IMO the pic doesn't exactly show the play, as Spurgeon checked up 4' from the boards with McLeod flying in behind him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4f7Z...eature=related |
Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread
Sharks play Ducks tonight. Hope they can turn the tide like they did against the a$$hat canucks the other day. That was a good win. Thought the officiating was pis$ in that game. The refs let those guys pull too much cheap crap after the whistle and runaway.

7 games for Carcillo...between his injury and the suspension, he may be gone a long while. 66 grand is salary too.
Good news is the Hawks signed Andrew Shaw, who may fill the role even more effectively than Carcillo. |

Wings pulled within 1 point of the Hawks, and two behind Vancouver (although both have played 2 less games than the nucks). Stats are looking good too. Wings 128 GF (tied 2nd most), 88 GA (3rd lowest) and the largest GF/GA margin at 40. Hawks 128 GF, 111 GA Nucks 134 GF (leads west), 99 GA Sharks 105, 86 GA (tied for lowest) Keep in mind Wings & Hawks have played 39 games, Nucks 41, and Sharks 36. I think these are the four best teams in the West. The Blues are not far back, but I'm not sure they can score enough goals to make it deep in the playoffs (39 GP, 99 GF, 86 GA). |
Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread
I dunno about the Blues. They are tough, play good D and have 2 great goaltenders. That normally means good things in the playoffs.

I gotta agree with Christos, Mike, at this point I would put the Blues right in the mix with the Hawks, Wings, Nucks and Sharks. I HATE the Canucks....that being said, the line of the Sedins and Burrows is out of control lately, best offensive line in the league the last month. |

Nice win by the Sharks, Mike, looks like the Hawks could fall to 4th or 5th in a few days if they don't get off the snide.

Feel bad for the Flames. I thought they couldn't look worse then last night. Boy was I wrong. Watching the replay. There are a lot of bad goals. Irving was in net no puck control rebounds everywhere. That defense of the flames defined no hustle. They just stopped even skating. Edit looks.like kipper went in and did no better. Love the Roku box with GCL. |

That clip of Big Joe trolling Sedin is priceless!

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread
Some funny stuff already,Vancouver is whining and the game hasn't even been played.
The ref's wont give them any calls..the 1:00 pm start is not fair. The Bruins always play Saturday matinee games it's not about them:r The B's are nothing but a bunch of goons,I think they should check the stat sheet that will tell them who the Bruins are this year. I'm sure there will be more to come today:D |

I wasn't able to see much of the game since my daughter had a basketball game, but I did see the last five minutes (and the game highlights). JVR looks like he may finally be coming back around. Of course with Jagr out, being moved into some more opportunistic line combinations helps. |
