Sorry folks.... I've been grinding away in the shop.... getting caught up on a bunch of things.... I had cut my thumb on the table saw a little while back and it put me behind a bit....

That, coupled with 100 degree - 95% humidity..... I just haven't taken many pictures and stuff....

It's all good... moving along - should be back to normal soon.....

Hope your thumb is healing up ok Ed. Can not wait to see some more of your work posted up.

Wow. I almost wish I hadn't given up cigars for pipes after seeing this post. Can you make a smoker's cabinet with pipe rests? Who am I kidding... of course you can!
Beautiful work. The lacewood and ebony combination blew me away!

Here's another fresh off the bench....
Bird's Eye Maple & Walnut....
16" x 12" x 7"
190 Count....

Tried a little something different with the lid on this one.... I think I like it!

This little piece of "Americana" will soon be sitting in it's new home in Singapore... The BOTL that owns it, happens to be on vacation in the US and plans on stopping by the shop TODAY to pick it up!

Finally!!! Randy's Humidor

We waited a long time for this quilted maple to get in.... used every bit of what I had.... talk about measuring twice, cutting once..... Quilted maple is getting harder and harder to get....

Quilted Maple & Walnut
19.5" x 15.5" x 14"
600 Count

Still have to make a few dividers for the trays.... but, otherwise, she's done...

Finally! She looks awesome Ed... the only thing that will make her look better is seeing it in my HOUSE! Thanks for making it such a fun process... all of the picture updates have made it truly a great time for me to watch as the humidor came to fruition.

Thanks for all the hard work... I can't wait to get it seasoned and in use...

Thanks again Ed! :tu

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread

Ed, I hope I'm not asking you to give away some trade secrets, but I have a couple questions:

Where do you order your woods? Locally or Online? I'm having trouble finding the Spanish Cedar locally.

Where do you order your barrel hinges from? I keep finding references to nice ones in the UK, but I was hoping for something I wouldn't need to import.

Fantastic work all around. I keep coming back to this thread for inspiration. I gave up woodworking many years ago for a career in IT...trading one talent for another. I'm hoping making myself some humidors will get me back into the swing of making nice boxes. (shopping for a drum sander and dust collector now in fact!)

I guess this is what I see... either this or some viking warrior with a winged helmet. Definitely something more badass... but it's my humidor so I probably just don't want to see a puppet in it. :)

Heh, I used a spare car belt once to get mine running again...god bless those old Rockwell and Delta floor models...they just don't make em that good anymore.

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread

I began a WMWH discussion with Ed in December 2011 and over the course of a month we settled on a design 17H x 12W x 12D in wenge and black palm. After a 50% deposit the build began early January with great progress pictures. Upon completion the balance owing and a shipping charge was paid.

Delivery took longer than we expected due to the shipper goofing up with the label, nothing we can do about 3rd parties.

The custom WMWH146 finally arrived and looked stunning. After a few days of seasoning...

I'll let Ed post up some pictures or I can. It is well documented from design to workshop and my experience since February 17, 2012.

Can you include a pix in a PM? I've had a need several times to include a pix in a PM, but find no way to do that! It may be there, and I am just too tech-inhibited to find it!!!!

(Maybe why he posted instead of PM'd, I'm thinking!):)

So I would include a link in the PM just like I do in a thread? Dang-it. A DUH moment for sure, cause It never occurred to me. That happens when you are old and slow like me!

Sorry for the threadjack.

Sorry for the threadjack.

They give you the code and everything, Cliff. You just copy and paste it in your pm.
