I really didn't think the Hawks had a bad game last night. They totally dominated the first period outshoiting the coyotes 14-4. They slowed down in the second and third a bit but still controlled most of the play, othen then the 30 second brain fart where the Coyotes scored their two goals.

From listening to the post game I think Hawks fans expections are a little bit lofty. If I didnt know better I would think I was in Toronto listening to the Leafs post game show.

Some notes I did take:
-Not enough traffic in front of the net
-John Scott should not be in a Hawks Uniform.
-Jack Skille was the best player on the ice with line three being the best in the game.

I guess I got spoiled last year with 60 minutes of tape-to-tape passing, Matt. The Hawks breakout, and their passing, is a shell of what it was last season. Bickell needs to be back with the Icehogs and Jeremy Morin needs to be in Chicago. Duncan Keith has had more giveaways in 18 games this year than he had in 82 last year. I will give you the shutdown D in the first last night, but there are so many issues they have compared to the last 2 seasons that I am not even sure where they start. I am also pretty convinced Toews has an injury that he is not disclosing, he just isn't the JT I have seen the last two years, and I know it isn't a matter of heart or desire.

Skille has great speed and great heart, his hands just need to ctach up with his feet if he is ever going to succeed at this level.

Rant off. :r

It is hard for me to comment on the stuff last year and I agree that some of the passing was questionable.

As for Morin, I would say that there is pretty much zero chance of seeing him in Chicago to fill a thrid or fourth line role. The Hawks want him to play as much as he can and he will get that with the Hogs.

Frankly, Matt, I agree...I would like to see Morin on the first or second line, as I think he has the most offensive upside after 4 others (Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp).

Caught some of the first period but missed the rest; Wings looked good. Then again, they were playing the Oilers. But, winning 8 of their last 10 has them tied with the Blues for first.

Newbie here but I can't resist jumping into an NHL discussion... being from Buffalo though the Sabres aren't much to talk about.

Icehog..... how has Campbell been for the hawks.... I know the Sabres PP has sucked ever since he left

Certainly not worth 7 MIL a year. :r

Hey, they got the first Cup I have seen in my lifetime, so I love all 20 of them from last year. :)

All Swedish no Finnish. Then again that's the sharks right now. I took a 5-3 to score a damn goal last night. Coach actually pulled the first line on one pp to send a message. They scored one pp goal in like 18 pp. Dan Boyle was the only player who played last night getting the pp goal and a shoutout goal. Without him the Sharks would have allowed the isles to break their 8 game losing streak.

The radio broadcast was comedy. They couldn't get demers. For the between period interview so Jaime Baker impersonated demers. The canned answers were epic. Made me laugh because 3/4 of the time you know what players are going to say.

Ugly win for the Sharks last night. Like you said Mike w/out Boyles goal, we were dead. Not to mention it took a 5 on 3 Powerplay to get it!!!
Terrible passing. WAY to may turnovers. Jumbo couldnt keep the puck on his stick, actually none of them could. His backhand passes were weak. Pavelski has had many chances but cant find the net. How do we end up with 30-40% more shots on goal and either tie or loose???
They better figure things out.

Mike, ya gotta love Randy, Drew and Bakes huh

Easy when you shoot the Puck from far out and bad angles its easy to get a lot of low percentage shots. A lot of their shots are not coming from between the dots.

I am not going to argue. What I find comedy is our homer is saying Jamal did it because the Sharks needed a spark. Your up 2-1 So yeah give them a man advantage and risk them getting the goal to tie it. Also risk getting tossed for the game screwing up the lines. Kill a penalty and make them tired. How about you wait till the next shift.

Watching the Pens Thrashers replay.

Looks Like the Bruins can't find the back of the Net.
In the se last two game against division Rivals The Sens and The Habs.
They show flashes of Great Hockey the other day against Pittsburg.
Is this what the rest of the Season will be like, I hope not.
Lets see more consistent Hockey.
Savard Back at practice he should be back in the Lineup, soon Krejci Shaking off his effects of a minor concusion, and ManCharles (Boychuck) Should be back soon solidify the D.
Let's hope this will bring up the offense.
Then after all these people come back Then they have Salary cap issues.

I had some tough guy come up from juniors many summers ago and pull that with me...unfortunately for him, I ducked the sucker punch and caught him flush with an uppercut.

Avery is a joke and so is the NHL for even allowing him to keep playing. Until that guy is gone from the league, he will just be a black eye on the NHL.

I can think of a few guys worse then Avery. There's one on the Sens Ruutu and one on the preds Tootoo that come to mind.

At the Sharks game. I am no Homer I call me team out all the time, but that was one shiitty officiated period. Glad the sharks are up by 2-1. Non call on delay of game. Appeared one of the other refs and a line man came over to ref who said tip to inform him they saw no tip. Same ref didn't call obstruction where a Shark taken out then Kings get a rush the other way and a gift goal. Only good thing Sharks got pissed after that and scored 2 quick ones.

Yeah that was a sweet victory giving how bad the refs fugged it up. Sharks went 2/3 on the pp against the best pl stats wise in the league. Scotty got a goal to. Per the radio feed the refs missed the Smith goal then a sharks goal and finally saw the Mitchell goal. So in the span of under 2 minutes 3 goals were scored. They saw 1. No joke this crew was the worse I have seen in recent memory

TV clearly showed the second "goal" was not in, hit the post and skirted along the goal line......so they only missed Smyth's.

I cought the 2nd period. Missed the third where the Wings took a 3-3 tie and blew it wide open. 7-3 is a butt kicking. Funny thing is the Blues looked better for part of the 2nd, but clearly the Wings kicked it up a notch.
