Can still remember Forsch dusting-off "flaps-down" Jeffery Leonard 20+ years ago in the NLCS. Would rather take on the Reds but bring on those Giants.

Btw, celebrated tonite's game with a nice Cohiba II and an ice cold Bombay martini.

How can you not love this team? Really, it's never fun getting beat but when you look at what the Cards have done it's simply amazing. Last year my Wife and Daughter were nice enough to put up with the game being on for a few weeks. Slowly but surely they got into it and it was a lesson for my little one "Never give up, Never" Finally she could see something real on TV that had a life lesson, never give up and do your best. When she would hit a rough spot in school, around the house, or after school activities I would ask her "What would the Cards do?" and she would say never give up, do your best. This year we traveled to St Louis just to see the Cards not because they are World Champions but because what they did touched all of us. Now flash forward to last night, everyone is decked out in St Louis gear and quickly they are down 6-0, not good and it would not take a miracle or a bunch of hope, but hard work and the unwillingness to give up. I guess that is all a bit personal. Rant over.

I am impressed by them, almost in awe of their last two postseasons so far.

But I don't love 'em. :r

The Nats closer had nothing in the tank.
That said, i watched the whole game, being
a basball fan, it was awesome. Gotta love the playoffs.
And yes, baseball and other sports, just from indivdual
and team efforts, can inspire us to do more.
The determination on these guys faces, in all the games
in all the series translates to everyday life.

I love baseball, i dont follow other sports.
Maybe i will watch a Stanley Cup final or the Super Bowl,
or a great college match up in hoops and football,
but i follow baseball all yr round.

I've never seen a bum hit so good, 2 run homerun BELTRAN 6-0 Cards.

Re: St Louis Cardinals Fans Sound Off!

With all the focus on Beltran's mammoth post-season play, I just ran into this little tidbit:

"Interesting stat: With his home run on Sunday, David Freese has now driven in 25 runs through his first 25 postseason games. According to ESPN Stats and Info, the only player with more RBIs through his first 25 postseason games is Lou Gehrig with 32."

Win or lose the rest of the way, the Cards have done better than I ever thought they would. The fans always thought they had the offense, as inconsistant as it was at times. The surprise for me has been the bullpen. It seems to have gone from a weakness to a strength. That's been the missing piece all season. We'll see .......

Hopefully Carp can stick it out for 6 innings or more and give the pen a bit of rest heading into the rest of the series. Rzepchinsky as good as he was last year seems a bit shakey and I cringe when he steps in, good thing for Marte to even things out a bit. One arm I never get tired of seeing is Joe Kelly, he stays calm and has a Wainwright like slider that eats batters. As far as hitting goes home runs are great but it's the small ball the Cards have used that really impresses me (Even Holiday) taking pitches and fouling ones off to produce a base hit. They have a solid 6 man rotation that a pitcher has to get through and even then Descalso has been on lately and Kozma has made a name for himself. Speaking of Kozma he is either the Iceman or has something else going on, a bit dazed in the infield with errors and intercommunicated cutoffs like last night. Either way this series is great and the Giants have the same never say die attitude that almost won them the game last night:tu

Well, the Cards pulled a "Holiday" last night. Really can't agree with his reasons to go after the 2nd baseman like that, a dirty play no mater how you look at it. Miller looked really good on the mound but to bad he had to pitch around 2 errors to finish his frame. I do have to say the Giants are a classy team and have great fans, not sure how the "play" at 2nd would have gone down at Busch.

Want both teams equally cold?

The drama drives me crazy. But the motivation doesn't seem to kick in for the Cards until they are one-strike away from elimination.

Hated to see the season end with a blow-out like that. Nevertheless, the Cards exceeded my expectations.

Gotta root for Leyland in the WS. Always liked that guy.

I'm already looking forward to 2013. Want to see Miller in the rotation and a full season with Rosenthal's fast-ball. Also, expect to see Oscar Taveras with the club before the season is over. Great bunch of young players ... how could a Cards fan not be excited?

I don't have a lot of memories of his playing days. I do remember a record album of his that we got from somewhere ..."How to Hit." Well, he ought to know.

Everybody understands when you tell them to meet you at the Musial statue. No. 6 has been a fixture and an icon for as long as I've been a fan.

Stan the Man will be a Cardinal forever.

Cards and Miami preseason. Looks like Rosenthal and Wacha will be on the mound. Speed and grace wish I could see some of Wacha's pitches.

Re: St Louis Cardinals Fans Sound Off!

Wow ... what a season so far. Who would have imagined that the three teams with the best records in MLB would be in the NL Central?

The young players have been every bit as exciting as I hoped they would be. Now .... Wacha!!! He was amazing during spring training and has been lights-out in AAA. A lot of pressure on this young man ... less than 12 months since his last pitch in college ball. It will be interesting to see how he handles it. Wish I had tickets for Thursday night.

688sonarmen 05-30-2013 01:54 PM

Re: St Louis Cardinals Fans Sound Off!

I'm with you! Wacha makes the 3rd call up so far and I'm really not getting my hopes up for tonight. It would be a 4 game sweep and just unbelievable to have another rookie ace. I hope I'm wrong. The Cards are playing outstandingly across the board as well, how about all the RBI's spread over the line up? Lastly did you see the catch Mohica made last night in the bullpen? :D

qwerty1500 05-31-2013 04:25 AM

Re: St Louis Cardinals Fans Sound Off!

Missed the bullpen catch. Also went to bed after Wacha sat down ... glad I did.

Other than Wacha, we could have used some of those RBI's last night. They left way too many runners in scoring position. Holliday seemed to have missed a lot of chances to put this game away.

Boggs ... what can I say? Don't know why they put him in to get the save. The boy seems to be disaster waiting to happen.

Wacha didn't disappoint. Don't know about rookie ace but time will tell. Was impressed that he settled down after they got a couple of hits and scored a run. Says something about his temperament. Also noticed that he only threw a very few curve balls and that is suppose to be his best pitch.

I am curious about something I saw. He seemed to tip his cap, just slightly, after every inning as his stepped over the first base line. Acknowledging the fans or superstitious?

Anyway, if he continues to pitch like he did last night, he will be a terrific addition to the rotation.

688sonarmen 05-31-2013 04:39 AM

Re: St Louis Cardinals Fans Sound Off!

Yup, Boggs. Ryan Franklin comes to mind, but he was a great closer at one time (Franklin). I think Manass, could have been left in. Or even have Kozma close it out, LOL! But, Kozma has really impressed me this year with his fielding. I did not see the cap tip but I thought I noticed his knee go up slower with every change up. Giants are up next and no disrespect to the Royals but it will be good to see the Cards play a team that is doing something.

The bullpen catch was the night before last, check out the highlight reels I'm sure its on there!

Ok:D

I don't understand why they carry national broadcasts the way they do. Usually masn has the Nationals games, but yesterday they showed the Oriels to make room for the Nationals Braves on Fox. I would expect Fox to carry the Cards since it is out of market and Masn to carry the Nationals as usual. Oh well, Ill check out the recapture on mlbtv.

I can't believe that Yaddi was tossed today. From what I am reading he knew he was out and that's why he threw the helmet, because it was a rally killer. I'm hoping he does not get a suspension from how he handled it afterward, but to be honest he probably will.
Freese played a hell of a game on D and Kozma was fine as usual.

Yeah, he probably will, but haven't heard anything yet. Yadi could use a short break ... he has been wanting to play every day ... kind of surprised he didn't play both games of the DH.

Hope the Cards play the Diamondbacks better than they did to start the season.

688sonarmen 06-04-2013 05:21 AM

Re: St Louis Cardinals Fans Sound Off!

1 game suspension that is being appealed. I personally think he should have gotten more, no excuse for his blow out after the call.

Great game last night, the signature 2 out rally aka blood in the water piranha mode was in full effect!
